Step I Warm-up 1. Greetings. 2.Revision. (1) Now let’s watch a cartoon,what are the animals doing? (2)Show some pictures and lead students to make conversation in pairs. T: What’s he/she doing? S1: He/She is playing basketball. T: What are they doing? S2:they are playing football. T: Is he/she swimming? S3: Yes,he/she is. /No, he/she isn’t. (3)Games

Let several students come to the front and acting, Others guess what they are doing. Step Ⅱ

Presentation 1.Teach Activity 1a. T: Look! What is he doing. Ss:He is swimming. T: where is he swimming? Ss: He is swimming in a swimming pool. Go through the pictures and words. Ask a student to read the words aloud. Call attention to the words PLACES and ACTIVITIES in the chart. T:Which of these words are activities? Which words are places?

Look at line 1 and the example activity , playing basketball. Which of the places in the pictures do you playing basketball at ? Guide students to answer “at school”. Say , “write the word ‘

school’

on the first line under “PLACES. You have matched the activity with the place,”

Ask students to complete the chart, matching up a place and an activity for lines 2,3 and 4. Later check the answers. Answers: 1. school—playing basketball 2.pool—swimming 3.supermarket—shopping 4.library — reading books 2.Teach Activity 1b. T:Now ask and answer questions with a partner. Make questions and answers like this. A Look! What is he doing? B:He is swimming. A:Is he swimming in a river? B:No,he isn’t. he’s swimming in a pool. Put students into pairs to make conversations like this. Give them three minutes to do it . As students work ,move around the room and listen.Finally ,invite several pairs to act out for the whole class. Step Ⅲ Practice Listening.(Activities 1c and 1d) T:Now you will hear three conversations,before listening,you need to have a quick look at the activities so that you know what to do and how to do them.then I’ll play the tape twice,you should listen carefully and write the places you hear in the chart below in activity 1c. Play the recording the first time.Students only listen and take some notes . Play the recording a second time .this time ask students to write the places they hear in the chart. Check the answers after they finish doing this activity. Play it one more time for them to listen and write the activities they hear in the chart. Check the answers together. Call attention to the complete charts in 1c.Ask students to make conversations using the information. Step Ⅳ Consolidation Teach Activity 1e . Point out the conversation in the speech bubbles in the picture in 1d .Ask two students to read it aloud.

T:Does she want to go to the movies ? S1:Sure.Let’s go there at 7:00. As students work,move around the room checking the progress and offering help as needed.You may wish to work with several pairs individually,taking one of the roles and having one of the students take the other. Ask some pairs of students to present their conversations to the class.
