2). Adverbs: happily,bravely,in excitement,a lot ... 3). Linking words: First of all, …/First, .../Firstly, …
Then ... / After that ... Also, …/What’s more…/In addition…

1). Share the students’ experience about vacation to know more about each other. 4. Important points & Difficult Points

2). How to rewrite or edit a passage by replacing the verbs, adding the adverbs
and adding linking words properly.
Part 5: Teaching Methods 1. Brainstorming 2. Mind-mapping
3.Rewriting 4. Freewriting
5. Peer editing
Part 6: Teaching Aids Multimedia equipment and blackboard.
Part 7: Teaching Procedure
Step 1: Prewriting
Task 1: Brainstorming:
Think about the key words the vacations. (Encourage the students work together to brainstorm the ideas about the topic because the students’ thoughts can be inspired by each other’s sparking points.)
Task 2: Mind-mapping:
Select some key words to draw a mind map about the vacation. (Mind-mapping will give the students the opportunity select the list those useful ideas to be concluded in their writing and also to see how the ideas can be put together in a coherent or logical way to present a lively passage.)
Step 2: While-writing Task 1:Rewriting:
Read a passage about the teacher’s summer vacation and then try to rewrite it by replacing the verbs, adding the adverbs and adding the linking words.
(It’s common that the students tend to use the same easy expressions in their writings which are not expressive enough. Therefore rewriting by
replacing the verbs with better expressions, adding the lively adverbs and adding the linking words makes the writing more impressive and better organized.)
Task 2:Freewriting:
Write the passage about the students’ own summer vacations. (Students are given 10 minutes to write freely about the topic “vacation”
following the mind map and the writing skills. Free writing can help the students develop fluency in writing.)
Step 3:Post-writing Task 1: peer editing:
Ask the students to exchange their writings and edit them for each other according to the editing chart.
(Peer editing refers to students’ editing of each other’s writing. It is beneficial for improving students’ writing skills as this process can help raise their awareness about how to develop the ideas and write clearly.) Task 2: Presentation
Share the writings in class.
Step 4: Homework
Write a passage about your last winter vacation by using the writing skills.
Step 5: After class reflection: The lesson went on well. The students were quite motivated but a little bit shy because of the camera. Also, not enough time was given at the presentation stage so some of the students’ writings, which were also excellent, was not able to be shared. More excellent writings should be shared in the next lesson.
