——教学设计

一、教材分析

本课是一节阅读课，通过时差问题引入世界各地的人们同一时刻进行不同活动的话题，介绍中国留学生朱辉的故事，展现他在中国的家庭和国外寄宿家庭里的生活场面，不仅介绍了中国传统节日---端午节，还让学生领略到中西方不同的文化习俗。

二、学情分析

经过前三课时的学习，学生已经基本掌握了现在进行时的各种表达方法，但是语言基础仍然薄弱，语言的拓展运用能力较差，由于学生所学的词汇有限以及平时的阅读训练不是很充分，导致学生在阅读能力方面有所欠缺。因此，教师在课堂教学中引导学生自主学习和语言实践，渗透学法，指导阅读，提高阅读能力。

三、教学目标

1、知识目标

使学生能理解和正确使用本课中的下列词汇：race, state, child, study, miss, wish, American, any, other, young, delicious, still, the United States, dragon boat race。

2、能力目标

使学生运用skimming和scanning等阅读策略，培养阅读兴趣，- 1 - 1 / 5

提高学生在阅读中快速获取信息的技巧和能力。. 3、情感态度价值观

通过学习时差问题和中国传统节日---端午节，了解中西方文化习俗的不同,弘扬中华传统美德。

四、教学重点

通过不同的阅读任务，运用skimming和scanning等阅读策略，降低阅读难度，提升阅读能力。

五、教学难点

指导学生模仿阅读内容，谈论在相同的时间，分散在不同的地点的自己和家人的活动。

教学进程

Step 1 Leading-in and warming-up 1. Work on 2a.Show pictures for Ss, ask about the clocks to review the time. 2.Show the pictures of clocks and places around the world. Ask time of different places. 3. Ask the students to guess what people are doing at the same time in different places. Step 2 Reading Practice

Pre-reading 1. Show the pictures in 2b and talk about the pictures. 2. Present some pictures to show the background of the passage - 2 - 2 / 5

and present the new words and phrases in the passage. Ss will see: 1) the picture of a boy Zhu Hui 2) a host family—an American family 3. Guide Ss to have a free talk in groups and share their ideas with each other about the activities Chinese people will do on the Dragon Boat Festival and the daily activities of an American family. And ask some students to make a report. While-reading 1. Skimming. Ask Ss to read the passage and quickly find out the answers to the questions. 1) Where is Zhu Hui now? 2) What time is it in New York? 3）What are the main ideas of Para 1 and Para 2. A. How to make zongzi? B. Activities of Zhu Hui’s host family.

C. Activities of Zhu Hui’s family in China.

D. Why Zhu Hui is in the US. 2.Scanning 1）Ask Ss to read the passage carefully, find out the activities everybody is doing and fill the chart below.

2.） Ask Ss to read the passage carefully again, find out the answers to these 2 questions. - 3 - 3 / 5

1) Does Zhu Hui like his host family? 2) What does he think about this home in China?. 3) Match the verbs in column A with the words in column B and use the phrases to write sentences according to the TV report. Then ask the students to read out and check the answers. 3. Imitating and reading aloud. Get Ss to listen to the recording and read along with it at the same time. While reading, let’s pay enough attention to the pauses, the pronunciation and the intonation of the native reader. 4. Post-reading 1) With the help of the names and activities listed in the chart, train Ss how to retell the whole passage. 2）Guide Ss to think about the activities now the people in his/ her family are doing and tell us. Step 3 Practice and Consolidation Step 4 Summary Guide Ss to work in groups and make a summary about: Q1: What do you learn in this class? Q2: What problems do you still have?
