I. The Analysis of Teaching Materials 1.

Status and Function In this period , it deals with the writing, especially the writing of giving directions. All the activities in this period encourage students to use the writing strategies for writing a good composition. This can help students to improve their writing skills and ability of understanding. In this period students will learn something about levels of writing in our test . This can help students become interested in learning English and understand how to write. 2.

Teaching Targets 1. Cultivate students’ core competence of English discipline (1)

Get the students to review words and phrases store,hospital ,bank ,school ,supermarket, restaurant...

Lead the students to master key sentences: Where is the hotel? It is behind the post office. To get to the park ,you should go along Center Street.

Analysis of Students As we know, the students of Grade 7 are active and show great interest in English learning. In addition, because of the characteristics of their ages and cognition, they are more interested in the topics which have a close connection with their everyday life. They are willing to talk about how to give directions but afraid of making mistakes. As a teacher, I try to create light and pleasant language surroundings to encourage every student to participate in all kinds of class activities to improve their writing skills. At the same time, the students may develop confidence in themselves. 2.

Learning Strategies According to their psychological characteristics and perceptive experiences, they may learn English autonomously, cooperatively and investigatively under the various situations I created. That is learning by doing, learning in doing and learning for doing.

Teaching Aids Multi-media; the blackboard IV. Teaching Procedures Step 1 Greetings and lead-in 1. Greet the class. 2. Let the students guess the word “MAP”.

3.Guide the students to talk about the usages of map in our daily life. 4. List the vocabulary ,grammar,target language ,passages of Unit8 about giving directions by using a map.

Step 2 Presentation 1.Let the students read the requirements of a writing task .

2.Let the students find as much information as possible. 3.The evaluation criteria in writing. 4.Students try to evaluate three sample compositions. Step 3 Consolidation and Practice 1. Ask the students to write down the advantages and disadvantages of the three sample compositions.

2.Summarize the process of writing. Step4 Project 1.

Group work Six students work in a group to write a good composition according to the mind-map of process of writing. 2.

Show After writing,group leader show their work to the whole class

Step 5 Summary 1.Choose right person and tense 2.Cover all the points. 3.Write different forms of sentences with proper linking words. 4.Pay attention to your handwriting.
