Teaching procedure Step 1

Preparation. 1. Greetings. 2. T: Boys and girls, can you count with number 1-20? Let’s count together.(Show a video, students count with the chant to review the numbers learnt in Unit 6.) 3. T: Look at the picture. How many cats are there?

Ss: One, two, three, four, five. Five cats. T: How many bears are there? Ss: One, two. Two bears. T: Yes, there are two bears. They are Briar and Bramble. Today is a fine day, Briar, bramble and their friends are going on a picnic. They take a lot of fruits.(Show pictures of Briar, Bramble, Logger Vick, Kikki, Maomao and a picture of fruits. ) Read the word “fruit”.

Step 2

Presentation. 1. Learn the new word “apple”. T: Here is Logger Vick, what fruit does he like? Let’s see, wow, apples!(Show a picture of the apple. ) Students read the word together, pay attention to the pronunciation. Show the sentence “I like the apple.”

Ask a student to read it, and let him or her get Logger Vick an apple.

Take out a picture of an apple and ask, ”What’s this?”

Step 4

Production 1. “Yes or No”. Show pictures and names of fruits and students tell them right or wrong. Practice the sentence patterns. 2. Touch and guess. Put some fruit in a basket and have some students guess what’s in it, use the sentence “Is this a/an…?”

Step 5

Progress 1. Role play. Students pretend to be Briar or Logger Vick, etc. Make a dialogue by them selves. Use the sentences ”It’s fruit time!”

“Oh, great!”

“What do you like?”“I like the….””A/an…, please”

“Is this a/an…?”

“Yes, it is./No, it isn’t.”

“Here you are.”

“Thank you.”

“Mmm, yummy!”

2. Have some students come to the front to act out their dialogue.

Summarize 1. T: Briar and their friends have a great time. They are singing happily. Let’s listen. And if you can sing, you can sing together with them. 2. T: We learnt names of fruits together today. I’m so happy to be with you. Thank you, boys and girls. See you.
