(Teaching materials)

This lesson is one of the lessons in Go for it, Grade Seven, Unit 5. It is about the present progressive tense. This lesson is the basic part of the Unit. It not only has the verbs and structure, but also it can lay the foundation of the present progressive tense further learning. The knowledge is related to the daily life, so it is helpful to raise students’

learning interests and it will be useful to improve the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Part two

(Teaching aims)

A: knowledge aims: Let the is learn the verbs ending of-ing and the target structures. B: Ability aims: let the students learn to describe what people are doing. Improve their listening, speaking, reading, Writing skills and communication skills. C: Moral aims: Arouse the students studying interests. Train the students have cooperative spirit. Let them feel confident of themselves. Part three

(Key points and difficult points) Key points: The key points are the target words and the structures. Difficult points: The difficult points are the verbs ending with ing and how to be describe what people are doing.

(Teaching method) To finish above teaching aims and according to, I think English teaching should set out from students’ interest, life experience and knowing level. Cultivate students’

abilities of listening, speaking, reading, writing and good sense of the English language. Make the students happy during the English studying. So I adopt tasked-based teaching methods, communicative teaching methods, and audio-visual teaching methods and competition methods to finish this lesson. Part Five

(Studying method) Teaching method is very important, but I think to students, studying method is more important. As we know, the studying method doesn’t exit in class by itself. We should obey to students’

body and mind development rules .Let students study English independently, cooperatively and investigative. So in this lesson, I divide the whole class into several groups. In this way, students can learn from each other and help each other. It can show students are the real owner of the class. They’ll be relaxed and please in this learning environment.

(Teaching procedures) Step one

Revision What do you usually do in the evening? I do my homework. ( watch TV / eat dinner)

Step two

New lesson 1. Look at a funny video.

〔Looking at the funny video arouses the kids’

interests, make the students be interested in the beginning, cultivate a good atmosphere,

meanwhile lead to the title 〕

2. Lead out the new phrases and target languages.

Show some pictures on the screen and ask the students to perform the actions. Example:

What are you doing?

I’m watching TV. What is she doing?

She’s reading.

Present other several

pictures to teach cleaning, eating dinner etc in this lesson.

〔Using the picture and the TPR, the kids can get a better understanding and accept the new knowledge easily.〕

3. Let the students do pair work. Present some pictures and ask and answer in pairs:

Example: What is he/she doing?

He/She is …

〔This method can consolidate the key points，train the students have cooperative spirit. After this part, the students can use the garget structures frequently 〕

4. Listening practice

The CAI presents another picture and questions. The students guess the answers, and then listen

I adopt task-based teaching method to practice listening. If they are right ,they can get marks into each group. The purpose of this activity is to encourage everyone to open the mouth and join the class. The teacher should pay attention to the individual different student.〕

5. Guess games

The CAI presents some pictures and let the students guess.

Example: Is Linda doing homework?

Yes, she is

No, she isn’t 〔During the competition and communication process, the kids’

speaking ability can be improved to a new level. Students will be interested in communication .they can feel the happiness of success and the cooperation spirit. The learning atmosphere will reach the highest. The diffident point will be broken through.〕

6. Sing a song

The students sing a song or a chant to summary the whole lesson.

〔Use a song to let the students feel easy, happy and pleasure in studying from the beginning to the end. And it also can show the students studying independently〕

7. Homework

Let the students draw a picture about action, and take note beside the it. Discuss it on the next lesson. And the class will have an art exhibition.

〔The purpose is to develop the writing skills and the practice ability, meanwhile the kids will expect the next lesson. The picture will be used when learning Section B〕
