Teaching Plan for the Reading of Unit 11 Teaching aims: 1. Knowledge aims: 1) Students will be able to read and use the following words and phrases: go on a school trip, visit the science museum, along the way, teach sb how to do sth, make a model robot, lovely, buy sth for sb, expensive, all in all, exciting, slow, be interested in, dark, hear, not…at all. 2) Students will be able to read and use the following sentence structures:

a. Then the guide taught us how to make a model robot.

b. After that, I went to the gift shop and bought some lovely gifts for my parents.

c. Everything was about robots and I’m not interested in that. 2. Ability aims: 1) Students will be able to get some reading skills, such as finding out the main idea by reading the first or last sentence of the passage and getting some detailed information after careful reading. 2) Students will be able to use past tense to talk about their own last school trip. 3. Emotion aims: Students will know that they can’t change the reality, but they can change their mood. So they will try their best to enjoy their life. Important and difficult points: 1. Learn to use some key phrases such as teach sb how to do sth and be interested in doing sth. 2. Some reading skills. Teaching aids: CAI, blackborad Teaching procedures: Teaching steps Step1 Warming up 1. Enjoy some pictures about Students’ last school trip. 2. Ask the students some questions about their last school trip. Step2 Reading 1. Look through the two passages and find out what type of writing are these two? 2. Read the two diaries carefully and complete the chart about Helen’s and Jim’s school trip.(Where? How? What? Feeling?) 3. 2c How do Helen and Jim describe the following things? Let’s fill in the chart. Step3 Discussion Why did Helen and Jim have different ideas about the same trip? Step4 Homework Write a diary about your last school trip.
