Arouse students’ interest in animals, and form a habit of protecting animals. Teaching key points and difficulties: Vocabulary

animal, zoo, koala, tiger, elephant, , panda, lion,, giraffe, cute, smart, beautiful, lazy, ect. Sentence pattern e.g. Why do you like koalas? Because they are cute. e.g. Why does he like koalas?

Because they’re interesting.

Teaching design

Step1 Greeting

Step2 Broadcast the sound of the animals and ask students to guess “what animals they are?” so as to present the new words about animals.

Step3 Play a game to consolidate the new words.

Step4 Listening SA 1b

Listen and check the new words you hear in 1A.

Step5 Review the description words they have learned before. And then learn four more description words.

Step6 Ask and answer by using the sentence patterns:

Do you like pandas?

Yes, I do.

Why do you like pandas?

Because they are cute.

Do you like tigers?

No, I don’t.

Why don’t you like tigers?

Because they are scary. Where are they from?

They are from .... Step7 Show them the map of the world and say where the animals are from.

Ask students to make conversations with their partners.
