Enjoy an English song: “My favorite animals”. 2. Ask the students: “Do you like animals? “Now, here is a puzzle about a kind of animal. Can you guess? It’s black and white. It likes eating bamboos. It’s our national treasure in China. Most of them live in Sichuan Province. – Panda

Do you like pandas? Why do you like them? Today we’ll learn Unit5 Why do you like pandas? Step 2 Presentation. Learn the new words. 1. Show a picture of a zoo. And tell the students let’s go to the zoo.There are many kinds of animals in the zoo. 2. Learn the new words about animals: lion, elephant, tiger, koala, and giraffe 3. Say the words as quickly as they can. 4.1a,Match the words with the animals. Step 3 Listening Practice: 1b.Listen and check the (√) the animals you hear in 1a.And then check the answers. Step 4 Presentation. 1. Learn some adjectives about animals. Show some pictures of animals and ask the students: Why do/don’t you like these animals? Learn the new words: interesting, cute, beautiful, smart, scary , lazy and so on. Learn the structure sentences “Why do you like...? Because they are...”

Show the pictures and ask the Students to practice the conversations in pairs. Step 6 Presentation: I like pandas. Do you like pandas? Where are pandas from? Do you know? Learn the new sentences: A: Where are pandas from? B: They are from China . Step 7 Listening Practice: 1.2a.Listen and write the animals you hear. Draw a line from the animals to the description words and the countries they are from. 2.Language Points: The differences between “very”and “kind of”. 3.2b.Listen again. Complete the conversation with the words in 2a. Step 8 Pair work: 2c Talk about the other two animals in 2a with a partner. Step 9 Group work: Survey: Do a survey in your group and fill in the chart, then do a report about your survey. Step10 Sum up: Show the picture of a knowledge tree,and ask the students to sum up. Step11 Emotional Penetration: Show some pictures of the animals which are in danger. Animals are our friends. We must look after them.We live in the same small world.
