Describe the weather during the four different seasons and the kinds of activities people do in each season. Teaching procedures: Step 1 Lead-in Greet the students and talk about today’s weather, and then lead in the topic of this period. Step 2 Revision 1、Ask students to read the learning objectives together and then check the answers to the questions of Self –study. 2、Have four students play a card game to check the students’ memory. e.g. warm, cool, cold, hot Step 3 Pairwork 1、Ask students to look at the pictures and talk about the different kinds of weather. 2、Let students work in pairs to talk about the weather according to the pictures. Step4 Presentation 1、Lead in the sentence patterns of expressing the weather in somewhere. e.g. How is the weather in …? What is the weather like in …? 1

2、Have students use the sentence patterns to talk about the weather in Beijing and Harbin. Step 5 Pairwork Ask students to match the words with the pictures and then talk about the weather in pairs. Step 6 Listening Ask students to listen to the recording and answer the questions in 1c and 1d and then check the answers. Step7 Pairwork Have students role-play the a conversation between Mary and Eric. Step 8 Groupwork 1、Let students watch a video about weather forecast. 2、Ask them to work in groups to make a weather report according to the picture and then ask the speakers of some groups to report the weather. Step 9 Exercises Have students do the exercises in the paper and check the answers.

Step 10 Revision Ask students to review the key language points of this period together. Homework Make a new dialogue by yourself about the weather in your city, and then practice it with your partner.
