Textbook Analysis Unit 6 unfolds around the topic of weather. Section A (1a-1c) plays an important part in this unit, for it includes some of the new words and structures. This is a lesson focusing on students’ (Ss’) listening and speaking. In addition, it is a daily topic, which is easy for Ss to understand.

Students Analysis Ss have learned about some words on weather, like sunny, rainy, which is an advantage for the teacher to guide Ss to the topic of this unit. Besides, Ss show more interest in such a daily topic.

Teaching Aims Knowledge aims: Ss will master the new words on weather, such as sunny, cloudy, raining, snowing. Ss will be able to name the five famous cities, like Beijing, Moscow, Toronto, Boston, Shanghai; Ss will master the sentence structures: How’s the weather? \ What’s the weather like? It’s….

Step 1. Warming up Show the pictures of my talk with my friend on the WeChat. Then here appears a

picture of a “special” Chinese character. Then lead to Unit 7.

Reflection

Reflection makes making progress, which plays an important part in both teaching and learning. So timely reflection is necessary.

During my teaching, I tried my best to encourage every student to involve the class. I designed some activities of different levels which make almost every student actively involved in this class. In this way, I can make full use of every step to help

develop their diverse intelligence in English learning. In addition, I organized my class with the help of Chinese poems and geography knowledge, which helps raise my Ss’ interdisciplinary awareness.

What’s more, I made full use of teaching aids to make the teaching contents easier and more vivid. There are also some disadvantages in this class. Firstly, I spent too much time on the lead-in part in this class, which results in the class delay. Secondly, more attention is paid to my teaching procedures, compared with the attention to my students. Thirdly, I should slow down when talking and the instructions should be simple and direct. Last but not least, I should try every effort to practice teaching in English, so that my oral English can be more fluent. All these should be improved in my later teaching.
