Target language: A: Let’s see the pandas first B: Why do you want to see the pandas? A: Because they’re cute. Ⅱ.Moral goals: 1.To observe and describe animals. 2.To talk about their preferences. III. Moral objects Animals are our friends. Educate students to love the animals and protect them. IV.. Importance and difficulty: Know the words about animals and their personalities. Enable the students to talk about and describe their favorite animals. StepⅠ warm up and have a free talk 1.As we know ,“A good beginning is half done”. At first ,I’ll have a free talk with students.

T: Good morning, boys and girls. Ss: Good morning , Miss Zhang . T: What’s the weather like today? Ss: It’s sunny.

T: A beautiful day. Thank you , please sit down. T: What time is it? Ss: It’s ten o’clock.

T: What are we doing ? Ss: We are having an English class now. (Greet each other as usual). T: I feel honor to stand here and share this class with you . Today we’ll learn “Unit 5 Why do you like pandas?”( Read for three times) . Do you want to know something about my family ? Ss: Yes./Sure. T: Here ’s my family photo. This is my daughter. My pet dog , Lucky--- a member of my family . In our free time , we like playing with Lucky. →Do you like animals ? What animals do you have in your family ? Can you tell me ? T: (Ask three students about their pets. ) What animals do you have in your family ?

S1: I have a pet dog .His name’s ….He can run fast . T: Do you often play together ? S1: Sure ,we are good friends . T: Thank you .Do you have a pet dog ? S2: No, I don’t .But I have a pet cat .She’s white .

T: Can your cat climb trees ? S2 : Yes ,she is very naughty . T: A lovely cat .Thank you . In many families , people feed dogs、cats、rabbits…as pets.

What about you ? Do you have any pets? S3: No , my parents don’t let me feed them ,but I want .

T: What a pity .But it doesn’t matter. You can go to the zoo to see more animals .

Now let’s enjoy a video. What can you see in the zoo?

StepⅡ Presentation Share some pictures about new words and ask students to say the animals. Help them to say what the animal is in the picture. Ask the students to read the new words, and make sure that everyone can understand the meaning and read them correctly. 1. T: We can see many animals in the zoo . Now let’s learn some new words.

What animal is this ? (Show a picture of a panda) Ss: Panda. T: What color is the panda ? Ss: It’s black and white .

T: In China , pandas are “National Treasure”. They like eating bamboo.

(Show a card of panda) Read panda for three times. T: Who can read panda? You four , read it one by one. 2. T: (Show a picture of elephant) What’s the biggest animal on land ?

Ss: Elephant . T: Elephants are smart , they can draw and dance. They can walk for a long time and never get lost .(Show a card of elephant) Read elephant for three times. You four , read elephant please. 3. T: Do you like tigers ? Ss: No, I don’t .

T: Why don’t you like tigers? Ss: Because they are scary . (Show a card of tiger ) Read tiger for three times. Row Three , please read tiger . Please write “panda, elephant, tiger ” on this paper. Who can write here? ( check )

4. T: A beautiful animal , what’s it ? Ss: giraffe .

T: They have long necks and legs , so they can eat leaves on the tree . .

(Show a card of giraffe) Read giraffe for three times. Then boys read , girls read. 5.T: What do you think of koalas ? Ss: They’re verylovely. T: They spend much time sleeping all day and don’t move anywhere.

(Show a card of koala) Read koala for three times. Then boys read , girls read. 6. T: What’s this lion doing? I guess he wants to know where to catch small animals . Are you afraid of lions? Ss: Yes . (Show a card of lion) Read lion for three times. Then boys read , girls read. T: Please write “giraffe, koala, lion ”. Who can write here? ( check )

7.T :These are new words we’ve learnt today . Who can lead us to read them ….read after him/her for three times. StepⅢ Play a guessing game T: Do you like animals? What do they look like ? Let’s play a guessing game.

I’ll show some parts of animals. Try to find the differences. It’s yellow and black .It’s the king of the mountain .What animal? Do you know? (Hands up) S1:

tiger. T: You’re right. Do you like tigers? Ss: Yes, I do./No, I don’t.

The second , is it a monkey ? S2: lion. T: You are clever. The next, What animal? S3: Elephant T: You’re smart .How can elephant walk ? Who can do the action ? (choose one boy ) You did a good job ,thank you . T : It’s gray and lovely. It’s from Australia. It eats leaves. Can you guess? S4: koala T: A beautiful long neck. You can guess easily. S5: Giraffe. T: The last one .we can say it together. Ss: Panda. Have you remembered? I point the words and you read loudly . StepⅢ Match the words with the animals in the picture. My favorite animal My favorite animal is from China. It’s 2 years old. It’s small but fat. It likes sleeping in the day and eating fish. It is a little lazy. Every day when I get home, it always runs around me. I love it. What’s my favorite animal? Can you guess ? Ss : Tomcat .You are so smart . T : Different people like different animals .Do you want to describe your favorite animal? OK. Let’s discuss together .
