What does he look like? Section B教学设计Part1.The Analysis of the teaching material

It is

the 4th

period

of this unit. And it is a reading lesson. This lesson mainly talks about people’s

appearance, such

as

height , weight,

hair styles and the five sense organs. Students are familiar with the topic and they can describe people’s looks. The grammar is the simple

present tense. Part2.The Analysis of the students The students have learned English for more than

one year. And

they

showed great interest

in

English.

They

want

to

express

themselves

but they are lack of vocabularies. Most of the students don’t often communicate with each other in English. Some of them are not active because they

are afraid of making mistakes.

In order to

encourage them to express themselves, the teacher

should

create

real situation for them to practice.

Part3.

Teaching

aims

1.Knowledge aims:

Words :artist, criminal, put, describe, differently, another, in the end.

Sentences:

(1) The police put it in newspapers and on television to find him. (2) He wants to draw a good picture of each criminal. (3) Many people don’t always see things the same way so they may describe the same person differently. 2. Ability aims:

(1) Develop students’ reading

and listening

ability. (2)Learn some reading skills: prediction, scanning. 3.Moral aims:

Don’t judge a person by his appearance.

Part4.Teaching steps: Free talk:

Step1.Lead in

What does your mother look like?

The purpose: a familiar topic to encourage students to express themselves

in English and make other students learn to listen carefully.

Step2.Predicting(预测)：the main idea(文章大意)

Ways and The purpose：make students grasp the main idea by looking at the title and

know the importance of the title. But students often

ignore the title ,so they may get the main idea difficulty.

Step3.Scanning:

1. Who’s the host(主人公) of the passage?

2.What’s his job?

3.What can he do?

4. Is his work easy or difficult? Why?

Ways and The purpose: read the passage quickly and find the answers to the questions, make students look quickly through the text in order to locate specific information.

Also ,ask students work in groups to talk about the answers. Step4.Intensive reading 2c.

Read the article again and write what the words in bold refer to.

The purpose :Make students find the key sentences words and practice oral English by talking with each other about the passage. Step6. Conclusion Don’t judge a person by his appearance.（不要以貌取人）
