In this unit, the language aims are to talk about what people are doing. Guide students to learn a new tense-Present Progressive Tense. And in Section B, help Ss use the target language in a different context and practice their listening and reading skills.

学情分析

Analysis of the students:

The students have learned the Simple Present Tense. So this unit we will mainly teach a new tense-Present Progressive Tense. In Section B, according to talk about overseas student Zhu Hui’s story, let Ss know something about Chinese traditional festival-Dragon Boat Festival.

The teacher show some pictures and guide the students to review the Present Progressive Tense, finish Activity 1a. T:What is the man/girl... doing? And where is he/she?... 2.

Look at the pictures in 1a, then ask and answer questions.

1.Listen and complete the chart, listen twice and finish Activity 1c,1d. 2.Check the answers.

1.Divide the students into 6 groups, give each group 2 pieces, then try to know their meanings. 2.Answer the questions: 1) Why are Zhui Hui’s family watching boat races and making zongzi? 2) Does Zhui Hui like his host family? What does he think about his home in China?

1.With the help of PPT, the students read the article and try to know What’s the Dragon Boat Festival and host family. 2.The students read the article by themselves.

According to the pictures, the students review the new tense we have learnt in the last period.
