Teaching procedure

Step 1 Lead in Show a picture of a man but nobody knows him. Then show another two pictures of this man. This time some students guess maybe he is Dengchao, but they are not sure. Finally show the fourth picture, this time students are sure that the man is Dengchao. Actually the man in the four pictures has different looks, but they are the same person---- Dengchao. In this way, we begin to learn to talk about people’s looks.

Step 2 Presentation and practice of new words 1. Learn some new words by showing the pictures on PPT.

2. Talk about the pictures. Have students discuss how the people in the photos look like. 3. Learn the new words. ①Ask the students to read the new words together. ②Translate the new word. ③

Read the new words sometimes lower and sometimes louder. 4. Sum up the new words with the mind map.

Step 3 Presentation and practice of new sentences 1.

Show some pictures to practice the sentence pattern: A: What does he look like? B: He is tall/short.

He is thin/heavy.

He has short/long/curly/straight hair. 2.

Choose some students in the class as the model to practice the sentence pattern.

Step 4 Pair work Discuss in pairs. Students can choose anyone in the class as the model.

He has straight hair. Give the students a hand if necessary. Tips: Everyone is important. Everyone is special. Never judge people by their appearance.
