一、教材分析

本单元是人教新目标英语七年级下Unit 3。主要围绕Why do you like koalas?这一主题展开各种教学活动。本单元旨在创造一个轻松、愉快的学习、交流环境，通过听、说、读、写来培养学生综合运用知识的能力。并让学生能在“做中学”（learning by doing），通过有限的课堂实践活动，了解并观察动物，能够自由描述出对某些动物的看法。并通过本课的学习，能懂得保护动物，保护大自然。

二、教学目标：

1. 能熟练掌握课文中生词及短语： save,symbol, flag, forget, place, water, danger, cut, down, cut down, tree, kill,ivory, over，one of..., be in great danger, made of, get lost. 2. 能通过阅读短文，掌握文章内涵，通过分析短文，深刻理解文章含义。

3. 通过阅读训练来让学生们逐步提高英语阅读能力。

4. 通过对本文的学习，提高学生对动物的保护意识。动物和人类都生活在同一地球上，动物是我们的朋友。我们

人类应该与动物和谐相处，共同生存。我们应当学会关爱动物，保护动物。

三、教学重、难点

1. 教学重点：通过阅读短文来了解世界各地一些其他动物的情况，让学生们眼界更宽阔。

2. 教学难点：通过阅读训练，来培养学生们的综合阅读能力和文章分析能力。

四、教学过程

Step 1 Warming up ASK AND ANSWER：两组同学比赛，每组各派一名代表，进行问答比赛，比一比看谁问的多，回答的多。

（设计意图）：课前的大比拼部分既调动起学生的情绪又又能练习学生的对话及口语技能。

Step 2 Presentation 1.学科助理带领同学们完成学历案预习自测部分。

2.Guessing Game:What animal is it? Step 3 New Lesson 1.Ckeck the animals that you think are in great danger. (Acording to the animals,Ask the students:Do you like ...? Why do you like...? What animals do you like?

此环节设计在于直接练习上节课句型。让学生在练习对话的基础上阅读短文，更有利于对短文的理解。) 2.Fast reading(2b): Read the four titles and read the article,then check the best title.(Ask a student to answer.) 3.Careful reading(2b): 1)Show the paragraph one on the screen.students read it again and talk about it in groups,then one reads and one translates. 2)Give the important words and phrases. 3)Students ask some questions about this paragraph and other students answer. 4)Read the paragraph together. 5)Show the paragraph two... 6)Show the paragraph three... 7)Complete the passage.

4.After reading(2b) 1). Tell the students to look at the map in 2c. There are four boxes around the word "Elephant". The first box is about the importance of the elephants in Thailand.The second box is about the abilities of the elephants. The third box is aboutthe facts and figures

of the elephants. The last box is about how to save the elephants. Let's fill in the blanks. 2). Check the answers with the Ss. Step4 Summary Stap5 Homework 1. Remember the new words and expressions learned in this period. 2. Try to write a passage about your favorate animal. 板书设计：
