Try to train students’ speaking skills.

Try to train students’ listening skills.

Try to help students know how to express their opinions about TV shows or movies and tell the reasons.

Moral Objects: Watching TV shows or movies can open our mind, but don’t spend too much time on them. It’s bad for our eyes and health.

Teaching procedure:

Step 1: Warm-up

Teach two new class rules: Are you ready? And praise sb.

Step 2: Lead-in

Watch a video and then say the names of TV shows and movies.

Step 3: New words

1. Have students listen some voices to teach: cartoon, meaningless, action, action movie.

2. Do 1a. What do you think of these TV shows and movies? Choose words from the box and write them under the pictures. Then check the answers.

Activity 1: Chant time.

Step 4: Oral practice Show students a picture to review the target language:

A: What do you think of...?

B: I ...because ...

Activity 2: Ask and answer

Work in pairs to practice the conversation:

A: What do you think of...?

B: I ...because ...

Step 5: Listening comprehension

Before listening

Task 1: John Mary are talking about watching TV. Let students guess: What do John and Mary like to watch at last?

While listening

Task 2: Do 1b. Listen and circle the description words you hear in the box in 1a. Then check the answers.

Task 3: Do 1c. Listen again.

Write down the words John and Mary use to describe the TV shows or movies. Then check the answers. Task 4: Listen and fill in the blanks.

John: I __________ really like those kinds of TV shows. I think they are __________.

I like to watch__________.

They are more__________ . Mary: OK. I like talk shows, too.

I think they are __________ .

Step6: After listening--Retelling

Ask students to retell what John and Mary like to watch and why.

Step7: Chain work

Activity 3: PK.

Ask students to watch a video first, then work in groups to have a free talk about their opinions about TV shows or movies and why. Then show their opinions.

Step 8: Moral teaching

We can learn a lot from TV shows or movies, but don’t spend too much time on them. It’s bad for our eyes and health.

Step 9: Homework

1. Listen to the conversation twice and try to imitate it.

2. Make a survey about your families' favorite shows.
