U9 What does he look like? Knowledge objective:

(1) Ss go over the new words in section A like curly, straight, tall, medium, height, thin, heavy, tonight, handsome,etc. (2)

Ss apply the new words into real circumstance and try to describe the appearance or wearing of somebody. Ability Objective: (1)

Ss can describe what somebody looks like. (2)

Ss can describe their favorite teachers or actors based on their drawings. Affection objective: (1)

Ss learn about how to describe somebody. (2)

Ss can express ideas in public. Teaching Method: Task-based method Teaching tools: ppt, a shor video clips Teaching procedure: Step1: Warming-up: Try to describe the person based on the pictures and can fill in the missing words. Aim: This step goes over the useful words . Step2:Watch a short video and try to write down the important information

The teacher shows a conversation with blanks and students watch a short video and get the useful information. The teacher can play it twice if necessary.

Aim: In this part, students fill in the information which is about the body part, the decoration and the clothes of a little girl. I t lays the foundation for the following grammar and sentence pattern.

Step3: Observe and find the rules. Ss will see three groups of pictures and sentences and try to find out the rules. (1)

How to describe appearance: S(主语) + is / are + height/ build (2) How to describe body part；

S(主语) + has / have +adj+hair/eyes/nose... (3 )How to describe wearing: S(主语) + wear(s) + clothes /decorations(饰品)... Summary:

Aim: Instead of telling ss the grammar rules, ss can find out the rules by

comparing the sentences.

Some multiple choices and blanking-filling exercises are shown on the screen.

Students finish the exercise in the limited time.

Check the answers Aim: Exercise is a good way to check the result of study. Step5:Finish the exercise on P51, textbook. 3a&3b Step6: Brainstorming: What does your favorite actor or actress look like? What does your favorite teacher look like? Then students share their favorites to the whole class. Step7: Activity: Let me tell you my favorite person(friends/family members,etc) Sentence patterns: My favorite person is... He/She is... He/She has... He/She wears... Step8: Summary Step9: Homework. Write a passage about your friend
