Teaching steps （教学步骤）

1. Warm-up and lead in（课堂热身和导入）

(1) Daily greetings to Ss. (2) Watch a video. 【教学设计说明】本单元主要话题是描述动物，通过视频去动物园引出本单元话题动物。

2. Presentation （呈现新知识）

(1) Have Ss pass the tests (1-5) to become volunteers in the zoo. (2) Test 1: Do you know some animals? Show pictures of different animals and let Ss guess the animals. Teach Ss the names of different animals and some description words of animals.

【教学设计说明】图片教学法是呈现新知识最简单有效的方法之一，学生通过图片，能更价值观的理解新单词的含义。

(3). Challenge memory & Work on 1a（完成1a）

Ss say the words out as quickly as possible when they see the pictures. Get Ss to match the words with the animals in the picture on p. 25. Check the answers. 【教学设计说明】通过配对和挑战记忆游戏，使学生进一步掌握有关动物的单词。学生通过抢答的形式说出单词，目的在于激发学生兴趣，提高学生反应速度。

(4). Work on 1b （完成1b）

Get Ss to listen and check (√) the animals they hear in 1a. Check the answers.

【教学设计说明】此环节着重是听力训练。让学生在听对话的过程中抓住关键词汇，由于前面已做了一些训练，因此学生听起来比较容易，让他们都有一次成功的喜悦和感受，这样可以增强他们的学习自信心。

3. Drill (练习) (1) Test 2: What animals do you like? Why? First, let Ss guess the animals according to the description words. Then, guide them to make conversations about their favorite animals and tell the reasons. (第一轮提问成绩较好的学生，第二轮提问成绩较差的学生) 【教学设计说明】此环节为机械操练，使不同层次学生初步掌握目标语言。机械操练是英语初始阶段教学必不可缺的部分，学生要先从模仿到初步掌握，最后才能熟练应用。机械操练时应注意着重提问成绩较差的学生，由于机械操练比较简单，因此是激发后进生兴趣，培养后进生自信的一个很好的途径。

(2) Test 3: Where are they from? Show the world map to the Ss. Get Ss to practice the conversation about where the animals are from. 【教学设计说明】此环节是给学生提供真实情景让学生运用所学句型来进行操练，给学生提供机会运用所学句型。

(3). Work on 2a & 2b (完成2a和2b) ①

Julia and John are at the zoo. Listen to their conversation in 2a and write the animals you hear. Then match the animals with the description words.

Check the answers. Explain the words “very” and “kind of”.

② Let Ss complete the conversation in 2b first. Have Ss get into groups to share their ideas. Listen and check the answers. Ask some groups to present their conversations to the class. 【教学设计说明】此环节进一步巩固了本堂课所学的词汇和句型。通过反复听读，可以让学生尽快熟悉生词。学生填表格，是检查学生能否听懂并拼写所学单词。

4. Consolidation Test 4: Make a survey on animals. First, T gives Ss an example. Then, have Ss ask their classmates about their favorite animals, the reasons why they like them, and where the animals are from. Ss make a survey in groups and then come to the front to present. The group leader gives a report. 【教学设计说明】此环节既能充分练习学生的目标语言，使学生学以致用，同时也能极大的调动学生们的课堂参与率，给孩子提供一个展示的空间与舞台。

5. Moral education Test 5: What can you do for animals? Let Ss watch a video on saving the animals, they Ss share their opinions on what they can do for animals. 【教学设计说明】此环节通过观看视频与讨论来渗透德育，要关爱动物，保护动物。

6. Summary T and Ss make a summary of this class together. 【教学设计说明】通过师生共同对本节课内容的回顾，以思维导图的形式帮助学生形成知识网络，有助于学生系统掌握所学内容。

7. Homework （课后作业）

Let Ss make a survey on their family members’ favorite animals. Write a composition. 【教学设计说明】通过作文的形式进行练习，提高学生的书面表达能力，同时，这也是课上内容的进一步巩固与拓展。
