*本课分析

本课时是Section B的第二课时，是一节阅读课，是Section A在话题、语言结构和技能上的继续和延伸。话题和内容跟大象紧密相关。本课时的话题：大象为什么处于极大危险之中，进而呼吁学生保护动物。

*学情分析

学生已经学习了英语一个学期了。大部分学生在小学阶段已经接触了很多动物，对于濒临灭绝的动物也有一些了解。大部分学生能够掌握基本的英语技能，对本单元的话题，能够积极地参与进来，并且能够做出很好的总结。但是学生在课堂上不愿意主动发言，特别是一部分发音不准确的学生。因此作为教师要通过设计有趣的切合学生实际的课堂活动和任务，积极引导学生热情参与课堂活动，并且在活动中得到综合的提高。

*教学目标

一、教学目标： 1. 语言知识目标：

1) 能掌握以下单词：save, symbol, flag, forget, place, water, danger, cut, down, cut down, tree, kill, ivory, over

2) 能掌握以下句型：

① The elephants is one of Thailand's symbols. ② Let's save the Elephants. 3）通过阅读训练来让学生们逐步提高英语阅读能力。

2. 情感态度价值观目标：

动物和人类都生活在同一地球上，动物是我们的朋友。我们人类应该与动物和谐相处，共同生存。我们应当学会关爱动物，保护动物。

二、教学重难点

1. 教学重点：

通过阅读短文来了解世界各地一些其他动物的情况，让学生们眼界更宽阔。

2. 教学难点

进行阅读训练，来培养学生们的综合阅读能力和完成思维导图的能力。

*教学过程

Step 1：Lead in

T: Today we continue to learn Unit 5. Could you please tell me the title of Unit 5? Ss: Why do you like pandas? T: Great. So in this unit, we talk about animals. What animals do you know? S1: Tigers, monkeys, koalas...

T: Good job! Do you know what the biggest land animal is? Ss: The elephants! T: Wow, you are so clever. So what do you know about the elephants. Now let’s enjoy a video and know more about them! （设计意图：在阅读课开始之前让学生对所学过的动物进行回忆，通过提问最大的陆地动物从而引出大象这个话题，再让学生观看有关大象的视频，让学生把注意力放在大象上，为接下来的阅读埋下伏笔，同时也打下基础。）

Step 2: Pre-reading T: OK, what do you know about elephants? Can you say something about them? S1: They are very big. S2: They are very fat. S3: They are very strong. T: Great! What do they have? S4: They have a long nose. S5: They have two large ears. ... （设计意图：通过短短的视频，让学生对大象的外貌特征有了清晰形象的认识，并且训练学生用完整的句子回答问题，为接下来文章的阅读做了很好的铺垫。）

Step 3: Fast reading: Read and match Let students read the passage quickly and finish task 1 in 3 minutes. Task 1 : Match the main idea of each paragraph. Para. 1

The elephant is one of Thailand's symbols. After 3 minutes, check the answers. Students should tell how they get the main ideas in each paragraph.

（设计意图：学生在快速阅读中找出每个自然段的中心思想，并且要说出在哪里找到的。在任务中贯彻阅读技巧—每个自然段的第一句或者最后一句往往就是这个自然段的中心。）

Step 4: Careful reading: Read and finish Read paragraph 1 carefully and finish Task 2 and Task 2. Task 2 : Which one is the first flag of Thailand?_______

Then check the answers. T: Now look at paragraph 1. Pay attention to these three words: Our, it, this. What do they really mean? S1: “Our” refers to Thailand’s. S2: “It” refers to the first flag. S3: “This” refers to a white elephant. T: Wonderful! From this paragraph, we know that elephants are important in Thailand. But why are they important in Thailand? Now please find the reasons and finish Task 4. Task 4 : Fill in the blanks. Why are elephants important in Thailand?

The first time, you just listen and the second time you should write down the answers and the last time you should check your answers. Are you ready? Ss listen and finish Task 5. Task 7 : Complete the mind map. Why are elephants in great danger? How to save them?

Step 5: After-reading. T: Now it’s time for us to choose the best titles for this passage.

The class retell the passage with the help of some pictures. （设计意图：通过复述文章的形式再一次检测学生对文本的掌握程度，同时训练学生运用英语的能力。学生通过图片提示用自己的话表达文章的主要内容，对他们来说也是一种挑战。换句话说，如果学生能复述出来，那么本节课的教学目标已经完成了一大半了。）

Step 6: Summary. T: We talk about animal all the time. But do you know what the word mean? Show the true meaning of the word “animal” in one sentence. Animal: In this world, animals need more amicable love. （在这个世界上，动物需要更友善的关爱。）

（设计意图：对单词animal拆分为6个字母，每个字母代表什么含义。最后得出一个句子对单词进行阐释，从而对主题进行升华，让学生明白动物和人类都生活在同一地球上，动物是我们的朋友。我们人类应该与动物和谐相处，共同生存。我们应当学会关爱动物，保护动物。）

Step 7: Homework You must do: 1. Finish 2c on Page 29. You can choose one of them: 1. Surf the internet to find more animals that are in great danger. 2. Write an article about saving pandas.

教学反思

本节课的教学重点是阅读，教学过程中重点强调阅读方法的培养。教学设计体现了任务型教学的特点，整个任务的设计均以学生的兴趣为起点，由浅入深，逐步完成各项教学任务。教学中通过视频播放和图片展示在课堂一开始电动了学生的积极性和主动性。通过微信信息开启本次阅读课。本节课在阅读前做了大量的铺垫，让学生对大象有了很直观清晰的认识，让学生用完整的句子描述大象，激发学生的阅读兴趣，在一定程度上打消学生的阅读恐惧。接着从快速阅读到精读再到最后的复述文章，用多种任务形式从各个角度检测学生对文章的掌握程度。任务的布置由简单到有难度，遵循学生接受知识的能力的规律，让大部分学生都能参与，课堂氛围较好。多种小组活动体现了学生在课堂上的主体地位。

本节课的不足之处：由于时间的限制，在最后一个设计海报的环节时间不充分，小组的呈现并没有时间展示。
