The Mud Bath 1.

Teaching aims: A.

Ss are able to understand the story,listen and imitate the story, read the story vividly with nice intonation, emotion and body gestures, etc. B.

Ss are able to read and understand the phrases: ran with the ball, Kick it! Fell over, bathroom, ran a bath, forgot and retell the story with aids of pics. C.

Ss can get the main idea and understand the story by reading the pics and get detailed information about the story. Talk about the story with own words.

2.Teaching resource: Video, PPT, pics of story

Teaching procedures: Step 1: Daily-report & Comments Talk about the sports you like and why. E.g. Hi, everyone. I am_____. I am a_____boy/girl. I can______. I can_______. I like to play______very much.

See, I have a football/basketball/baseball.. It’s _____and_____. It’s_____and______.I can play football/basketball well. I am good at(擅长) it. Step 2: Warming-up: Song about balls.

Step 3: Lead-in and presentation 1.

T: Do you like to football/basketball...? Why?

Ss: It’s funny/interesting...

Can you show us how to play?

Invite Ss to repeat and do together: kick the ball

run with the ball

fall over

get a goal 2.

Show Dad with a football. See, What was dad doing?

Ss: He was playing football.

T: Can he play football very well? Is he good at football? (Ss guess)

Lead-in:

ran with the ball

kick the ball T: See, Chip was looking at Dad. What did he say? Lead-in: Come on,Dad!

Go on, Dad!

Kick the ball!

Kick it!

Get a goal! T: Did Dad get a goal? What happened? Show Pic 3 and elicit: He fell over (in the mud).

and imitate the action and sound: Splat! T:How was Dad?

Ss: Dad got dirty/ muddy/ nasty.

What would the children / mum say to Dad? Elicit: Bad luck, Dad!

What a mess!

You look so dirty/muddy!

You need a bath! 3.

Play music and lead to say a chant:

Ran, ran, ran with the ball. Kicked, kicked, kicked the ball.

Fell over, fell over. SPLAT!

Muddy, muddy! Messy, messy!

Bad luck! Bad luck! 4.Think:

What did Dad want to do?

Elicit dad’s voice: I want a bath.

(Lead Ss to do the action)

Lead to read the title:

Lesson 15 The mud bath. 5.T:Where could Dad have a bathroom?

Ss: Dad had a bath in the bathroom.

T: What did he do first in the bathroom?

Elicit: ran a bath ( body gestures) 6.Listen, what can you hear? What was the sound like?

T shows the sound of water and Ss guess the sound.

Teach: It was the sound of water.

Drip! Drop! Drip!

Plop! Plop! Splat!

Then match the sounds with pictures. Step 4: Listening, imitation and practice 5.T:So dad had a very nice bath? Why?

Ss listen to the second part from Pic 6-10 and choose the answer: A.

played football

B.had a bath

C.saw football on TV 6.Guess: Did he remember the bath? What happened next? Show the pic and sound of the water:

The water came down. SPLASH! Dad forgot the bath.

Then what did Dad / children say? How did Dad / children feel? Lead them to imagine: Dad: What?!

Oh my god!...

Children : Bad luck,Dad!

Poor Dad! 7.

Listen again and imitate the whole story , answer questions: Dad forgot the bath. Why?

Ss: He saw football on TV.

He liked football very much. Step 5: Discussion and thinking: 8.Read the story and think: Can we do the same thing as Dad? Why?

We should concentrate the job we do.

9.T:How many parts can we divide in the story? Give each a title. Part 1:

Pics 1--4:

Part 2:

Pics 5-12

__the mud bath__ 10.Choose one part you like and try to Act out the story in groups of roles. 11.Make these pictures of story in correct order. 12.Retell the story.

13.Say the chant again with the music: Ran, ran, ran with the ball. Kicked, kicked, kicked the ball.

Fell over, fell over. Splat!

Muddy, muddy! Messy, messy!

Bad luck! Bad luck!

Bath, bath, ran a bath.

Football, football on TV.

But ...

but he forgot the bath.

Drip! Drop! Drip!

Plop! Plop! Splat!

Splash! 14.Thinking: If you were Dad, would you have a bath again?

Step6: Assignment 1.

Read the story again and retell with pics. 2.

You can draw the pics and tell the story of yours if you have the similar experience with dad.
