Good English 2b SIFLS Lesson 18 The Steel Band
Introduction
We asked the students to preview the story before class, including understanding the whole story and reading loudly with their group members. The students have already read some stories in Good English (1a-2b). They like this book.
Time: May 28th, 2018 Students: Grade2 students of SIFLS Aids: Multimedia, blackboard, props Teaching Objectives:
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to: 1. understand the story as a whole; 2. read the story fluently and dramatically; 3. act the part of story in roles; 4. feel fun in the story and share the story with others; Focus of the Lesson: students can act out the roles and feeling the emotions of the story. Predicted Difficulties: students can understand the story with pictures and key words and feel the atmosphere of the band playing. Teaching Procedures: Step 1. Daily report. Ss try to give comments. Step 2. Lead-in (approximately 5 mins)
1. Enjoy a video.

2.Listen and answer: A band came to the school. What’s the name of the band? The steel band. *Try to choose: steel (A.钢鼓乐队
B.铁乐队) Step 3 Presentation.

*Look and guess:What did the band came for? The children were at school. A band came to play. The children were happy. (Picture 2) *Look and answer: How many people were there in the band? There were four people in the band. *Listen and answer: What’s the man’s name? What did he want? “My name is Stan,” said a man. “I want you to help us.”

T claps hands to elicit clap- clap your hands(T invites ss to do the action.).
T tap feet to elicit tap-tap your feet(T invites ss to do the action.).
“Clap your hands and tap your feet.”

How was everyone? What did everyone want to do? Everyone wanted to play. They were excited. They all came to the stage and played the drums. Stan calmed everyone down. (T imitates Stan’s action.)
“You can all play,” said Stan. (Picture 8)The children played one by one.It was Wilf’s turn. What did Wilf do?Wilf hit the drum. He banged it too hard. “Tap it,” said Stan. “Don’t bang it.”
(Picture 9)Look! Who were playing? Biff, Wilf and Chip were playing. The children played well.
