Step1. Organization of class. Step2. Free talk. How’s the weather today? How do you come to school every day? What’s your favourite animal? Where does it live? Do you often go to see them? Why not? Because there isn’t a zoo near here, right? Yes, but there are many other places near here. Step3. New words& patterns Look at the screen. (A map of Chengxin Street) Is there a post office near/around here? Yes, there is./No, there isn’t. The teacher and the students ask and answer according to the map using a hospital/bank/restaurant/park/hotel/police station/pay phone etc. (Write them down on the blackboard) Read the new words and practice the conversation.(Pair work.) Do 1a &1b.

Step4.Show some pictures of three students .Ask and answer the questions below. Where is he? He is between A and B./in front of A./behind A./across from A./next to A. Revise the propositions of places Go back to the map of Chengxin Street. Ask & Answer: Is there a post office near here? Yes, there is. Where is the post office? It’s across from the restaurant. Do 2a & 2b. Step 5.Group work Make a conversation according to the map on the screen. Step 6.Summary. Step 7. Homework. Draw a map including the places we’ve learnt today, using the propositions of places to mark them. 教学反思：本节课采用的是A部分的内容，为听说教学，旨在课堂上使学生能听懂，会说本篇对话及听懂，会说新单词: post, office, police, station, pay phone, restaurant, hotel, hospital等并能运用会话中的句型进行扩展性的情

景对话，并最终培养学生掌握地点的正确表达方法，提高英语学习兴趣。这节课是本单元的第一节课，大部分学生能较好地掌握有关地点的单词，但对地点介词的用法和表达比较生疏，还需进一步操练巩固。
