一. Teaching aims

1. Knowledge objects:

Remember the words, and use the main sentence pattern: How is the weather? It is sunny/cloudy /windy /rainy/raining/snowy/snowing. 2. Ability objects:

a) The Ss can use the sentence pattern in different conditions, and further develop their language ability.

b) The Ss can express their thoughts.

3. Emotion objects:

a) By completing the task, the Ss develop their interests and set up self-confidence in language study;

b) Teach the Ss to care about the weather and life, put the moral education in the language study.

4. Strategy objects:

Prepare 3 tasks for the Ss, they are helpful to improve their listening \ reading \ speaking\ and writing ability.

二. Key points

First of all, study and use the sentence pattern “How is the weather? It is sunny/cloudy /windy /rainy/raining/snowy/snowing.” to improve the Ss’ language ability.

Secondly, teach the Ss how to study independently as well as by cooperation.

Make dialogues of describing weather and what you are doing.

1. Task-based teaching method

According to the task-based learning theories and cooperative learning theories, I adopt the methods in my teaching.

Offer the Ss an opportunity to complete the task. The activity reflects real life and learners focus on the meaning, they are free to use any language they want. It can develop the students’ interests in learning English.

Teaching Procedures

Step 1：lead in: （1）、Greetings between the teacher and the students，watch a movie about the weather report . T: What’s it about ?Ss: It is about weather. T:Can you talk about weather in English? Ss:No . T:Let me teach you .Let’s learn unit 6.

（2）little star show (让今日的小明星到讲台前来检测导学案作业，领读生词及句子。)

(Design intention: develop the interests of learning.) Step 2：Set four challenges for them.Learn new words and sentences.

T:We have four challenges in this class.The first one is the words.Are you ready? Ss:Yes! The teacher show the pictures of the weather.Let them guess .Then write the new words on the blackboard.Let a student come to the front to match

the signs about weather with the words.Put them up on the blackboard.Next,let Ss observe the words and find out the rules. For example : sun-sunny cloud-cloudy wind-windy rain-rainy snow-snowy … S1:通过加y 或者ny 把名词变为形容词。

Step 3：Learn the sentences: The teacher show pictures about weather.Ask and answer questions. T:How’s the weather?/What’s the weather like? S2:It’s sunny/cloudy/windy/rainy/snowy./raining./snowing. Step4:Pair work Ask and answer according to the pictures on ppt to practice the target language. Step5: Goup work (Talk about the grammar) Give Ss 5minutes to discuss the grammar with their group.Then fill in the blanks together. 询问

“今天天气如何？” 可以说: _________________________? 或者_________________________? （后可加时间和地点状语。）其中how's = _______.what's =________. 例如：What's the weather like__________ ? How is the weather__________? 答语为 ___________________________________. (注：天气weather是不可数名词，不能用a/an修饰，也没有复数！)

Step 6 Pair work Ask and answer in pairs.

How is the weather in Beijing? It is rainy/windy/sunny/cloudy/snowy/foggy…

Step 7 Finish 1a

1. Give some pictures about some places. (Beijing Moscow Boston Toronto Shanghai) They have different weather.

2. Math the words with the pictures (a-e).

Step 8: Listening

（Finish 1b, 2a and 2b）

Ask the students to listen to the recorder and complete the chart.

First listen to the tape, and then check the answers. Finish 1b, 2a and 2b.

Learning some place names (Toronto/Boston /Moscow…)

(Design intention：The pictures can arouse the students’ interests.)

Step 9: Play a game (a memory test ) Show photos of the students,and let students stand up quickly and answer the questions”How is the weather in Beijing? It is rainy/windy/sunny/cloudy/snowy” What is she/he doing?He/She is …. What are they doing? They are ….

Step 10:Group work (the game show) Talk about the weather with your group and design an interesting activity .It may be a weather report ,guess the weather,interview a famous person,or talk about the weather in their cities.Then give them 10 minutes or more to prepare and find some groups to come to the front to act.

(Design intention：Offer the Ss an opportunity to act in English. The activity reflects real life. They are free to use any language they want. It can develop the students’ interests in learning English.)

Step 11: Summary Sum up what they have learnt in this class.

1. Words about the weather (windy /cloudy /sunny/rainy…)

2. How is the weather?=What’s the weather like ? It’s sunny /cloudy/windy…

3. How is the weather in Beijing/Boston/Moscow… It’s raining/snowing /snowy…

Step 12:
