一、教学目标

1. 知识与技能：

1) 能掌握以下单词短语：

symbol，flag，forget，get lost，place，water，danger，be in （great）danger，cut，down，kill，ivory，over，（be）made of 2）能掌握以下句型：

Why are elephants in danger ?

How many elephants are there in Thailand ? What can do to save elephants ? 2.过程与方法：通过阅读了解文章大意，并掌握略读和寻读等阅读策略，获得阅读的兴趣。

3.情感态度价值观：熟练运用英语描述自己喜爱的动物及其理由，树立热爱动物和保护动物的意识。了解一些濒临灭绝的动物的生存状况，树立热爱和保护动物。

二、教学重难点

1.教学重点：通过阅读活动开发学生的创新思维能力。

2. 教学难点：通过阅读能用英语描述自己喜爱的动物，了解濒临灭绝的动物，树立保护动物的意识。

三．教学方法：任务型教学法、整体阅读教学法和自主学习相结合。

四．教学过程设计

Ⅰ.Warming-up and Lead in

视频Welcome to Animal World!导入新课

（设计意图：通过欣赏视频，了解动物基本的生存环境，营造轻松学英语的氛围，激发学生学习英语的积极性）

Free talk T: What's your favorite animal? Why? Ss: My favorite animal is …

/ I like...( pandas; elephants; koalas; giraffes; tigers; lions; dogs; cats; monkeys …).

Because they are really/very/kind of …( cute; smart; interesting; fun; beautiful; friendly; cool; shy; lazy …) (设计意图：通过自由讨论的方式，让学生复习favorite的用法。Why引导的特殊疑问句以及用如何Because 来作答。）

Ⅱ. Presentation Step 1.Pre-reading (1)

Guess my favorite animal. A.

They are very smart. B.

They eat grass(草) and leaves(叶子). C.

They have long noses. (设计意图：教师呈现出动物特征，让学生自己猜测是什么动物，启发学生思维，锻炼其大胆思考的能力。）

教师呈现文本中有关大象的主题图并提问:What is the animals ? What do you know about elephant ? (分组讨论）

结果如下：S1: Elephants have two big ears and a long trunk. They are very smart . S2: Elephants are smart animals.They can draw pictures very well and they can help people do many things ,so they are very helpful. (设计意图：让学生围绕大象进行同伴讨论的活动，旨在引导学生动脑思考，对文章内容进行预测，并为接下来的阅读做好铺垫。从而自然导入课文。) Step 2 .While reading 1. Fast-reading : 教师让学生快速阅读全文并划出每一段的中心句，同时提醒中心句是概括该段主要内容的句子。教师观察学生的完成情况，适时给予帮助然后让三个学生说出各段的中心句，最后选出文章的最佳标题——Let’s Save the Elephants .每段的中心句如下：

Paragraph 1：The elephant is one of Thailand’s symbols. Paragraph 2: Elephants are smart animals. Paragraph3；Elephants are in great danger . What’s the best title for this passage ?

A: What Is an Elephant

B: Come to Thailand. C: Let’s Save the Elephant.

D: Elephants Are Good Pets.

(设计意图: 引导学生运用略读的阅读策略，尽量关注每段的句首，培养学生快速阅读和归纳语篇主旨大意的能力。) 2.Careful reading Task 1: Listen to Paragraph 1 and choose the answers.
