Step 1. Warm-up Greet students and give a brief introduction of the lesson—it’s a charity party which aims to raise money for people in Ya’an. Divide the whole class into 2 groups. Group A PK Group B, if they finish the tasks, they can raise some money for Ya’an. After the party, see which group raises more money. 设计意图：与学生拉近距离，缓解学生紧张情绪。将本节课设计成一场为雅安地震灾区筹集善款的慈善晚会，与时事相结合，既能激起学生兴趣，又能培养他们的社会责任感。以两组比赛的方式贯穿整节课有利于培养学生的竞争意识。



Step 2. Presentation Show students pictures of the superstars who attend the charity party and teach the new words and target language.

Teacher: Look at the man! Do you know him? Students: Yes! He is … . Teacher: Is he short?

Students: No, he isn’t.

Teacher: You are right. He isn’t short. He is tall.

Write down the word “tall” and the target sentence “He is tall” on the blackboard. Teacher: so, what does he look like? At the same time, write down the sentence on the blackboard. Ask students to answer and read the conversation after the teacher. Go on talking about the other superstars, using the new words and target language. Students, their family/teachers/cartoon characters and other famous superstars can be concerned. 设计意图：通过学生熟知的明星来教授生词可以让学生对生词和目标语有更直观的认识，又与慈善晚会的主题联系起来，以学生熟悉的人物为依托，通过师生、生生问答反复操练教授生词和目标语。

Part Ⅱ Task-chain 

Task 1. Volunteers in Ya’an. Call Nancy, a reporter who is in Ya’an now. Show students a picture of volunteers in Ya’an and ask students to talk about the people’s looks in the picture. 设计意图：连线雅安的前方记者Nancy了解现在雅安的情况自然过渡到谈论课本图片的人物的外貌（假设课本图片是Nancy从雅安发回的照片，图中人是去雅安服务的志愿者）。学生看图片讨论图中人物的外貌是进一步熟悉本课词汇和目标语，为下个任务做好铺垫。



Task 2. Can you find Amy’s friend? Have students listen to a conversation and help Amy find her friend, a volunteer who goes to Ya’an, too. At the same time, fill in the blanks in the picture.

设计意图：设计连贯的相对真实的任务，让学生借助“听”来完成语言输入。让学生在听（对话）、记（关键词）、看（图片）、找（目标人物）的过程中进一步学习目标语，体现了任务型教学法的精髓。



Task 3. A game —

Let’s raise money for Ya’an.

Let students take part in an interesting game. Ask them to choose a golden egg and finish the job the egg asks them to do. The more money the egg labeled, the more difficult the job will be. 设计意图：本环节以有趣的游戏为依托，游戏分两轮呈阶梯状（第一轮题目较易，第二轮稍难）让学生在玩的过程中完成相应的填空、听、说等任务，使其进一步掌握本课词汇和目标语并将其逐步内化为自己的语言。



Task 4. A short sketch — Looking for …

Ask students to work in groups and prepare for a short sketch. Before they prepare for it, show students an example.

设计意图：这一小组活动的任务旨在尝试让学生将逐渐内化的目标语用于实际生活交流，并将原来所学知识加以综合运用，最后以小组表演小品的形式呈现出来。在小组准备表演的过程中，各成员必须合理分工、各司其职、相互帮助、通力合作才能圆满完成任务，为灾区人民筹得更多善款，有助于培养学生的团队合作意识。

Part Ⅲ Post-task 1.

Count the money students make, see which group raises more money and congratulate the winner.

2. Stand up and pray for good luck for Ya’an and sing a song if time is enough. Homework:

Write a letter to the students in Ya’an. In the letter, introduce yourself and cheer them up. 设计意图：对比赛结果进行反馈，旨在让胜利学生品尝喜悦，落后的同学学会反思。家庭作业是对课内内容的巩固、拓展和延伸。如果时间允许，一起唱一首改编的You and me为雅安祈福。
