Teaching aims: 1.

Ss understand the story and the Red Nose Day. 2.

Ss can read and imitate the story well. 3.

Ss can retell the story. 4.

Ss can talk about their own hero. Teaching key points: Help Ss enjoy the story through reading and acting the story in a vivid way. Encourage Ss to express their ideas and opinions.

Teaching difficult points: Help Ss find and discuss the changes of Wilma’s attitude towards Dad. Teaching steps: I. Greetings. How are you today? II. Review.

Sing a song: III. Lead-in.

1. T shows Ss the Pic3. T: What can you see?(Ss have a free talk.)

T: Can you read the words on the buckets?

(Red Nose Day)

Do you know sth. about the Red Nose Day?

2. T shows some pictures of the Red Nose Day and ask some Qs. Qs:

When is the Red Nose Day?

(It’s in March.)

What do people do on that day?

(They put on a big red nose. They give money.)

Why do the people do so?

(They want to help the poor.) T: It was a Red Nose Day. What did the families do? Let’s have a look. IV. Text-learning. 1.

Learn the story. Pic1: Who did Dad look like?

(Listen→Ask one to act as Dad and some others as Mum to practise the sentence ) Pic2: What did Mum give to Wilma? Was Wilma happy?What did Wilma and Wilf say?How do you see Dad?Is Dad silly or good and why?

(Listen→Imitate→Express their ideas)

Pic3: The families went out to the street. Everyone dressed up. The woman dressed up like a Queen with a crown on her head. This girl dressed up like a witch. This man dressed up like a cowboy. This boy dressed up like a clown. They put on a big red nose. Did Wilma put on the red nose? Why?
