I. Teaching Aims and Demands 1. Knowledge aims (1)Students can master the new words about weather. (2)Students can use the Present Progressive tense to describe things easily; (3)Students can master the key sentences in this part: How is the weather in Beijing?/ What’s the weather like in Beijing?

2. Ability aims (1)Students can use the present progressive tense in a different context; (2) Students can improve their listening and speaking abilities; (3)Students can describe the weather in different ways. 3.Key points: (1) the usage of present progressive tense; (2)the usage to the two ways to talk about weather. 4.Difficult points: (1)Can get the main idea of listening material, and get the useful information from material. (2)Can improve the confidence of learning English, and not afraid of speaking English;

Lead-in Watch a video about weather. Step Ⅱ

Presentation

1.Show some pictures on the screen. Ask Ss what they mean. Practice the new words. 2.Finish the task in 1a. 3.Show other pictures to describe weather in a different way.

4.Pairwork.Using the map to practice the conversation in pairs. Ask several pairs of students to perform their conversations before the class.

Step Ⅲ

Listening 1.Finish the task in 1b. Then check the answers. 2.Work in pairs to make conversations about weather. Step Ⅳ

Guessing game This activity is aimed at reviewing the present progressive tense

Step Ⅴ

Listening 1.Ask the students what the people in the picture are doing. 2. Finish the task in 2a and 2b. Then check the answers. Step Ⅵ
