Students learn how to help others and appreciate helping others.

教学重点:

Students are able to get the main idea of each picture and talk about them.
(Focus on pronunciation of the words and phrases.) 2.

Pre- reading (10 mins)
PPT, word cards, E-book, worksheet.
Teaching Activity教师活动

Greeting. ( Say “Good morning. How are you to the children.)

Daily English.

Say the chant: Good citizen, stand up tall!

Raise the question “What should a good citizen do?” and guide students to think and discuss. Teach some of the difficult key words: poster, decides, give up, pregnant, honest, collect money, neighbour

Guide students to think about the boy Jim in Chapter 1, and introduce the main character Polly in this period.
Learning Activity学生活动
1.Say “Good morning,. How are you” to their partners.
2. Ask and answer the questions and practise in pairs..

Say the chant with the E-book.

Learn to recognize and read the key words. Pair work on “What should a good citizen do?”
Purpose 设计意图
1、运用英语,学会尊重他人。
2、日常英语对话,学以致用。
3、为下面的教学作下铺垫,调起学生的好奇心和兴趣。.
4、结对训练口头表达,学以致用。在导入环节引导学生上口新词。

Present Picture 1 on PPT, guide students to understand the picture by raising questions.

Present Picture 3, guide students to listen to the record and finish the blanks on PPT, and read out aloud at last.

Present Picture 4, guide students to think freely about the plot.
6.
Present Picture 5-7, tell student to read silently an finish the blanks.

Play the flash on E-book, tell students to read with the E-book.

Tell students to read in groups.
1.
Ask students to retell the story with the layouts on board and the pictures on PPT in groups.
2.Students get the information in Picture 1 with teacher’s help.
3.Students try to understand the picture with teacher’s tips.
4.Students try to get the missing information by listening to the record.
5.Students think and discuss in groups to predict the coming plot based on the
information they’ve known.
6.Students try to learn silently by themselves and get the missing information as well as understand the story.

Students read with the E-book with low voice.
