【学习目标】

1．学生能熟练掌握句型：(1)…an elephant never forgets…

Elephants can walk for a long time and never get lost.(2)But elephants are in great danger.(3)We must save the trees and not buy things made of ivory.

2．学生能理解本课短文，会用mind map来帮助自己整理信息，提高阅读能力。

3．通过对课文的学习，学生更了解大象和其他野生动物的生存状况，珍惜并爱护野生动物。

【学法指导】

英语中用来描述动物相貌及性情的形容词有：聪明的(smart; clever)、可爱的(cute; lovely)、漂亮的(beautiful；nice)、丑陋的(ugly)、懒惰的(lazy)、腼腆的(shy)、友好的(friendly)、安静的(quiet)、无聊的(boring)、有趣的(interesting；funny)、恐怖的(scary)、胆怯的(timid)、危险的(dangerous)等等。其实，能够用来描述人的形容词大都可以用来描述动物，这也是动物拟人化的表现之一。

当made of作定语修饰名词时，必放在该名词后。如：

a boat made of paper 一条纸做的小船

(2)cut down意为“砍倒”。当代词作宾语时，用宾格，并放在cut和down之间；接名词作宾语时，可放在cut和down之间，也可以放在cut down后面。如：

People cut them down for wood.人们砍倒它们是为了木材。

People cut the trees down for wood.人们砍树是为了木材。
