Section B (2a-2c) 一、学情分析

本校初一学生年龄在12-13岁之间，全部来自进城务工的农民工家庭。小学时期极少接触英语，英语语言能力差。经过一个多学期的训练，学生在听、说、读、写等方面有了一定提升，能用英语进行简单的口语交流，理解常用的课堂英语用语，并作出适当回应。鉴于学生英语学习能力较差，激起学生学习英语的兴趣是首要任务。从日常生活中学生感兴趣的话题出发，尝试用英语与学生对话，引发他们的兴趣，提高学生的口语表达能力，培养学生用英语思维的习惯。另外，在情感态度,学习策略和文化意识方面给学生加以引导，使学生能够发现和总结语言规律，并注意知识的巩固、积累和拓展。

二、教学目标：

1. 语言知识目标：

通过概括归纳语篇中心、思维导图来阅读网站文章，巩固所学语言，关注“濒危动物”。

2.

技能方法目标：

①通过整体阅读，培养学生快速阅读和归纳语篇中心的能力。

②通过构建思维导图，帮助学生将抽象的零碎信息分类整理成与主体密切相关、又相对独立的块状知识。

2. 情感态度价值观目标：

动物和人类生活在同一片家园——地球，动物是我们的邻居，也是我们的朋友。引导学生关注濒危动物，培养学生的动物保护意识和人文素养。

学生阅读后，能整合重点信息，复述文章内容。

Ⅰ. Warming-up

1. Greet the Students.

2. Let Students play a game “ Ten animal names that I must know”.

Ⅱ. Lead in T: You are so clever! You know so many animals. Let’s see some pictures.

(Show some pictures of animals in danger.) What are they?....What’s wrong with them? Yes, they’re in danger.

Now please look at 2a. Please check the animals that you think are in danger.

Ss: I think ... are in great danger. You’ve done a very good job!

Ⅲ. Pre-reading T: Here is a picture for you. What can you see? Yes, there is an elephant. What’s he doing? Good, he is drawing with his nose. Today, we are going to learn something about elephants. Ⅳ. While-reading 1.

Skimming T: Students from Thailand write an article on the Internet, but they don’t know what is the best title for this article. Please look at 2b. Here are four titles for this article.

The topic sentence of each paragraph is usually important. It tells you the main idea of the paragraph. If you can find the topic sentence of each paragraph, It can also help you choose the right title. Please go through the passage quickly to underline the topic sentence of each paragraph. time I have four questions for you. Please read the article again to find the right answers. Later, I’ll ask some of you to give us the answers. 3minutes for you. (Show four questions to students.) Ask some students to give the answers. Q1: What is the importance of elephants in Thailand?

The elephant is one of Thailand’s symbols.

Their first flag had a white elephant on it. Q2: What are the abilities of elephants ? They can play soccer or music.

They can also draw very well.

They can walk for a long time and never get lost.

They can also remember places with food and water.)

So an elephant never forgets. Q3: Why are elephants in great danger?

People cut down many trees so elephants are losing their homes.

People also kill elephants for their ivory.

Today there are only about 3,000 elephants (over 100,000 before).

Q4: How can we save the elephants?

We must save the trees and not buy things made made of ivory.

Remember that March 13th is Thai Elephant Day. 3.

Intensive reading T: Students from Thailand made a mind map about elephants, but some information are missing. Can you finish the mind map in 2c?

T: Let’s look at the mind map in 2c. Work in groups, each person in your group retell a part of the article.

Ask 2-3 groups to retell the article.

T: Now let’s retell the story together... You are so great. Ⅵ. Summary Animals are our friends. Let’s love them, save them and protect them. Ⅶ. Group work

T: In Thailand, the elephant is a symbol of their country, and elephants are in great danger. How about China? What animals are the symbol of China? (Pandas) Are they in great danger? Yes, there are only about 1,500 pandas now. Let’s work in groups, and make a mind map for pandas. Here are some tips. You can talk about their importance in China, their abilities, what do they look like, what do pandas like to do or eat, or what can middle school students do to save pandas. Please make sure your mind map is clear and beautiful. Ⅷ. Homework Have to do（必做）: Complete the mind map; retell the article in 2b to your friends, so they’ll know that elephants are in great danger. Choose to do（选做）: Write an article about “Saving pandas”, then put the article on our school website. 六、教学评价

本课内容贴近生活实际，引起学生对濒危动物的关注，对动物加以保护，

以游戏的方式导入，让学生积极参与到教学中，充分体现学生学习的主体作用。同时拓展到对我国国宝大熊猫的保护，延伸了学生了课外知识，使学生虽身处课堂，但并不局限于课堂。
