Date: April, 2019 I.

Design ideas of this lesson Lesson type: Lead in & Listening lesson. Listening teaching is the input part in English-teaching and oral expression is the output. Nowadays, English-teaching mainly lays emphasis on language communicative ability, so for the students in junior high school, it’s important to cultivate their listening and speaking skills. During the teaching process, teachers should arose students’ interest and self-consciousness in listening to achieve the objective that students can use the target sentence patterns to express themselves smoothly and fluently in their daily life.

Meanwhile, it’s also important to cultivate students’

English corn quality, like learning ability, thinking quality and cultural manners.

II.

Analysis of teaching materials The topic of this unit is “animal”. To let the students get to know about the names, the qualities and the habitats of animals and can use the target sentence patterns to express preferences smoothly and fluently, teacher applies situational teaching approach by observing pictures and listening to the animals’

sounds to lead the students in to a “zoo”.

III.

Analysis of students Students in Grade 7 have mastered how to ask about the preferences and reasons. They also have learned how to use (adj.) and (adv.) correctly. They are willing to express themselves and have active minds, but there are still a lot of mistakes in their oral expression and grammar structures. Listening comes before speaking.
