Section D Stage 1 Greeting and introduction T: Good afternoon, boys and girls .You can call me Miss Li or Nancy. Nice to meet you. Ss: Good afternoon ,Miss Li . Nice to meet you ,too. T: Today, I want to divide you into two groups, boys’ and girls’. If you do well, you can get one or two points every time. Finally ,we will know who are winners. Come on! Stage 2 Teaching procedures Step 1 Show the studying aims ,key and difficult points of Section D. Ask students to read them. Step 2 Lead in T: I want to know if you did something for your mothers on Mothers’ Day. Ss: Yes, I did. T: You are great. Look at this picture, he is my student, he cooked a bowl of noodles for his mother on Mothers’ Day. Do you remember how to cook noodles? Ss: Yes. T: Let’ s review according to some pictures. Step 3 Review the step words: first, second, next, then, after that and finally. Ask the students to say how to cook noodles. Then show a picture of chicken soup and ask them whether they know how to cook it. Write down a short passage about how to cook chicken soup to finish part 3 on page 70. Five minutes later, ask three students to share their passages with us.( Give them a big hand and some points) Show an example to them. Step 4 Review comparative and superlative degrees of adverbs.

Give students some phrases and adverbs ,then ask them to make sentences like the examples.(1 minute countdown) get up/go to school/do one’s homework/play basketball/run/cook/study... (early/well/fast/high/far/much/late/hard/long...) Example: I jump high. Li Ming jumps higher than me/I . But Yang Yang jumps (the) highest of us/in our class. Step 5 Read and review

Read 1 and finish the table about different eating habits. Read 1again and retell it according to the table. Talk about the eating habits with object clauses in order to review the object clauses with if/whether. Ask students to combine the following sentences into one sentence with if/whether. 1. I don’t know. Is she a teacher?

2. Do you know? Can people eat with their elbows on the table in China? 3. I don’t know. Is it polite to eat up the

food on your plate? 4. I’m not sure. Does he stay at home?

5. I want to know. Will it rain tomorrow?

Step 6 Make a summary Make a summary about the knowledge and the winners of this period.
