本单元是牛津二年级第二学期第四模块的第二单元，共有Look and learn，Listen and say，Say and act，Make and play和Listen and enjoy五个板块。Look and learn包含三个核心词汇letter, balloon和carnation。Listen and say，Say and act和Listen and enjoy是三个小故事，分别为Mary, Jack和Kitty在母亲节当天用自己不同的方式为母亲庆祝节日。Make and play中Jack亲手制作一张悬挂纸条的气球，赠送给母亲作为礼物。

仔细阅读本单元教材后，发现本单元的词汇量比较大，涉及的词性不单一，包括letter, balloon, carnation, idea, a cup of tea, card, blow up, find, piece, paper, name, decorate, tie, smile, hug, kiss, hope。除了card在1B M4U2中作为核心词汇学过，其他一概是新词。其中，letter, balloon, carnation是Look and learn板块的核心词汇，要重点落实。idea, a cup of tea, card, smile, hug, kiss, hope出现在小故事的文本中，要求理解词义并熟练朗读。Make and play的新词，作一般要求，重在动手操作。若学生程度较好，跟读一两遍也无妨。另外，还有What can I do for Mum.和Here's.../Here are....贯穿于板块的文本之中。

基于上述的教材内容和Mother's Day的主题，我设计了Happy Mother's Day和I love you, Mum.两个话题，用两课时完成本单元的教学。第一课时，用Mother's Day的文本让学生知道母亲节在哪一天和在母亲节能够做的事。用What can I do for Mum? I can...的句式连接各个环节，复习词汇card，将核心词汇letter, balloon, carnation的音、形、义掌握好，巩固好。第二课时，将Say and act和Make and play都放在Jack的小故事里，整合Listen and say和Listen and enjoy，适时加入Here's.../ Here are的句型操练，让学生角色扮演、了解如何制作小礼物、读读儿歌、填空方式复述小故事，最后小组合作、讨论、分享，有至少5句的输出。

纵观一、二年级的牛津教材M4U2，1AM4U2和2AM4U2基本上与本单元没有交集。1BM4U2与本单元颇有共通之处，1BM4U2是New Year's Day，主题都是学生熟悉的节日。板块设计也大致相同，不过，Make and play有明显的递进和提升。1B教材的Make and play四个步骤仅用4个单词加以描述，2B的要求更接近于三年级，侧重句子的整体感知。由此可见，二年级下学期是三年级的重要过渡和铺垫。

1、知道妈妈的喜好，感恩妈妈一贯的付出，和妈妈一起庆祝属于妈妈的节日。
