Teaching procedure: Step 1: lead-in Chat with the students what did they do yesterday and how did they feel. Then the students can review the words they have learned before. Such as angry, afraid, sad, happy, worried and so on. Sarah’s family is happy but sad. Do you know the reason? OK, Let’s listen to the tape and find the answer.

Step 2: 1:To complete the part of “Let’s Try”. The teacher introduces the background of the conversation and raise these questions: Who is talking? What are they talking about? 2.With the help of the questions, students could have a better understanding of the listening record. Then they may grab the key information as son as possible. 3.Check the answer and listen to the tape again.

Step 3: T: We have known from the tape that Sarah’s family was going to the zoo, but they failed. Now let’s find out what happened.

1.To let the Ss read the conversation and have a rough understanding about the content. 2.The T ask some questions about the text and the Ss read the conversation again. This time, they should read carefully in order to solve the T’s questions. The question list: Who is ill? What should he do? Can Sarah go to too the zoon today? How does Dad feel now? Where will Sarah go? 3.Solve all those questions and explain the key point.

4.Listen to the tape and follow it to read. During reading, the Ss should pay attention to the tone.
