2. Talk about table manners for a formal western dinner party. Step 1 Lead in We have learnt the eating customs in different countries in the last lesson. Do you want to know what is polite for a formal western dinner party? Let’s come to Section C. Step 2 Guide One Now，Miss Wang is going to a formal western dinner for the first time. Ms. Jones is telling her something about it. Please listen to the tape carefully and answer these questions：

Read 1a again, and pay attention to the table manners. Later on I’ll ask some of you to retell the passage. The following questions on the small blackboard may help you. 1.What should you do when you sit down at the table? 2.What does the dinner start with? 3.How should you keep the fork and knife when you start eating? 4.Why can’t you take more food than you need?

5.Can you speak loudly at the table? 6.What should you do when you drink to somebody? 7.Can you drink too much during the dinner? Step 4 Consolidation Discuss the eating customs，use the object clause. For example：
