I. Material Analysis

本课是仁爱英语八年级下册Unit6 Topic2 Section C的一节阅读课，话题描述孩子们游览天安门广场、描述游览过程及发生的事情。通过描述游览过程和写游览日记来引入时间状语从句。通过介绍天安门广场来学习方位的表达。学生通过学习本话题可以更好地了解天安门广场并培养他们的爱国主义精神。本课重点在于学习时间状语从句和方位词。首先让学生介绍学校的平面图来复习方位词。然后通过讲故事的方式一边复习时间状语从句并学习更多的引导词，同时把新词汇展示出来。解决了词汇以后呈现1b图片让学生预测故事情节。随后让学生读1a来检验预测结果并同时完成1b,1c。接着组织学生处理1a中的重难点，最后运用本节课输入的词汇和对游记形式文本的结构来输出游记。

II. Teaching aims

At the end of the lesion, students will be able to

1. use the new words and expressions learnt in this lesson; 2. use the sentence structure of adverbial clauses to describe events;

3. retell the passage based on the words, expressions and adverbials clauses of time; 4. enjoy the trip to the Tian’anmen Square and learn the culture of China.

VI. Teaching procedures

Step 1. Review

Review the direction words to describe the directions of the cities in China.

Show students a map of China and speak out the direction of the cities in China. Ask students to pay attention the prepositions “in”; “on” “to”.

Eg. Beijing is in the north of China.

Fujian is on the south of Zhejiang.

Sichuan is to the southeast of Xinjiang.

Step 2. Lead-in

show a map of Beijing and talk about Tian’anmen Square.

Eg. Tian’anmen Square is in the center of Beijing.

Tian’anmen Square covers 440,000 square meters.

It is 880 meters long from north to south.

It is 500 meters wide from east to west.

Step 3. Pre-reading

1. Learn the new words and expressions according to the pictures

(1) Ask and answer: Q1: Do you know how will Darren, Kangkang and Michael go to Tian’anmen Square?
