(1) Retell the text in their own words. (2) To improve the pupils’ basic ability of listening and reading. 3. The emotion aim: Make the Ss realize the importance of saving water and do something to protect it.

(1) How to understand the text better. (2) To enable Ss to study in groups.

(3) To improve the students’ reading ability and develop their reading skills.

(2). To do a project. The teaching methods

As we all know: the main aims of learning English in primary school is to improve pupils’ basic abilities of listening, speaking and reading. So in this lesson I’ll mainly use “Task-based” teaching method, question-and-answer activity teaching method, watch-and-listen activity teaching method and group work method. I will help the Ss

finish each task to get a better understanding of the text. And in this lesson CAI计算机辅助教学will be needed.

the teaching steps

I’ll finish this lesson in 10 steps.

I have designed the following steps to train their abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing, especially reading ability.

Fast reading(scanning), , Intensive reading, Preparation for details of the text, Consolidation, Discussion, Homework Step 1 Greetings and warm-up 1. Greet the whole class as usual.

2. Free talk between T and Ss about the weather. Step 2.

Lead-in and preparation

[ˌprepəˈreiʃən] for reading (幻灯片1-2) Show some pictures about clouds, rain, trees, crops and so on on the screen to arouse激发the students’ interest and prepare for the new lesson.

Bring in the new topic : The water cycle. (幻灯片3)

Step 3.

Listening and watching (幻灯片4) Ask the Ss to listen and watch carefully and then talk about what they see.

At the same time, I will draw on the Bb and put the key words on the Bb according to what the students find, so they can retell it easily in Step 7.

Ask the Ss to open the books and read the passage silently and as quickly as they can, then answer some detailed详细的questions on the screen. It means reading for detailed information to let the Ss get the main idea of this paragraph. (Purpose: use question-and-answer activity,Improve the students’ reading ability.)

Listening and reading

(幻灯片9-23) Let the Ss to listen to the tape and read after it sentence by sentence. Pay attention to their pronunciation and intonation. Step 7. Intensive精细的reading

Step 7.

Retell “the water cycle”

(幻灯片25-26) I’ll retell the passage by finishing the Bb design first. And then ask the Ss to retell the passage according to the pictures on the screen. (Purpose: I want to know if my students really understand the whole text. What’s more, I want to train the Ss’ ability of understanding,using language and expression. ) Step 8.

(幻灯片29-32) Show the Ss some pictures about the shortage of water. And ask them what they should do. (Purpose: I mean to give them emotional education. I hope they can do their best to save water, love water and do something to protect water from now on. So I give them pictures to arouse their interest of study and their love for life. I mean to make them realize: The water is very very important for us! ) Step 10.

Work out of class

(幻灯片33) Make a poster to call for protecting the water. At the same time, I want to train their ability of do-it-yourself and looking up the information by themseleves. At last, the blackboard design
