Teaching aims: 1. Ss can remember all the rules in this book: ir, er, or, ar, al, le, ur , wor 2. Ss can spell and read new words with these rules, such as storm, corn, waterfall, worm, words, walk, hard, dark, star, fur and so on. 3. Ss can read the poem in four emotionally. 4. Ss can sing and say the chant fluently. 5. Ss can listen to new words with these rules and write them down. 6. Ss can write phrases or sentences correctly and beautifully on their books. Teaching key points: 1. Ss can spell and read new words with these rules, such as storm, corn, waterfall, worm, words, walk, hard, dark, star, fur, castle and so on. 2. Ss can read the poem in four emotionally. 3. Ss can sing and say the chant fluently. 4. 2. Spelling words T: Can you read them? Ss spell f-ar, farmer, g-ar, garden T: I’m ar, I say ? Ss: /a:/ T: Who can spell it? S1: Sh-ar-p, sharp S2: Sh-ar-p, sharp T: Together!

Ss: sh-ar-p, sharp. Ss spell and read other words in the same way. Ss and T chant for dinner, water, other/fork, horse, storm/homework, world, words/wall, ball, waterfall/little, uncle, castle Step 2: In-story 1. 引出情境，Ss拼读单词Barbie，Lord，York以及sword 2. 情境过渡,学生视听：

York: Your name, please? Barbie: My name’s Barbie, Sir. York: Nice to meet you, Barbie. I’m York. T: Look! Barbie and York were dancing in the garden. Then they read books together. And soon they fell in love with each other. 3. Read and act Barbie: Oh, no. A storm! York: The world is dark now. Where are you, where are you, Barbie? Barbie: Help me, help me, please! I’m in the Dark Castle. York: Barbie, let me save you. T describes the scene simply and Ss read it by pairs. Then T checks some words: storm, dark and castle. And T acts with 2 Ss first and 1 pair of Ss act this part of the story. 4 Four tasks to save Barbie a. Task 1: to get the key Ss spell all 8 words loudly and quickly, then they can get the key. Words: Worms, Turkey, Turtle, Beetle, Tiger, Horse, Birds, Shark b. Task 2: Find the room Ss guess one tip from each room that York chose, then they know the exact room Barbie in Horse Room: I’m Tall Horse. I can walk. Shark Room: I’m Dark Shark. I have sharp teeth. I’m so smart. (Discuss in two: Which tip York chose) Beetle Room: I’m Small Beetle. I have a hard mouth. I can fly.

Turkey Room: I’m Little Turkey. I have a nice skirt. I like corns and worms. (Read three tips by two then chant) Ss read a riddle and guess what animal it is. I’m so smart. I have a hard mouth. I like corns and worms. I can walk. I can fly, too. (bird) Ss: Barbie is in the Bird Room. c. Task 3: kill the evil birds Ss read each word on the bird aloud and kill them. Words on BP 60 Part 1 d. Task 4: Wake up Barbie Ss read a poem emotionally. Your eyes are the stars in the dark. 你那明亮的眼睛犹如夜空中的星星。

Ss read the poem in 4. T and Ss try to learn some words first: cherry and smile. 2 groups of Ss show their performance. Ss listen and read together. 5. Say the chant on P60 a. Sing a song with the rhythm of “Twinkle, twinkle, little star”
