Teaching steps: 1.

Lead in Show a clock and ask: What is this? Lead students to say: It’s a clock.

T: What does a clock do? Lead students to say: It can tell us time. T: Today we are going to learn how to ask and answer about time.

Presentation and practice Show the topic: What time is it? T: “what” What is the meaning? S1: 什么

T: “time” What is the meaning?

S2: 时间

T: “What time is it?” What is the meaning?

S3: 什么时间

T: “What time is it?” meanings “几点了？”

Show a picture of a clock, ask: What time is it? Lead students to say: It’s 9 o’clock.

Write down the main sentences on the blackboard: What time is it? It’s … o’clock.

Use the clock to make different time to ask the students, encourage more students to answer.

Show a picture of John eating lunch and the time shows 12:00. T: What time is it? S4: It’s 12 o’clock.

T: OK. 12 o’clock. So what is he eating?

S5: Lunch. T: Let’s say it in sentence: It’s time for lunch.

Ss: It’s time for lunch.

See the dialogue of Zhang Peng and John. Look, listen and read the words and dialogue with the video.

Play roles. Act Zhang Peng and John. The teacher acts Zhang Peng and ask: What time is it? Point out a picture. The students act John, choose student to answer according to the picture: It’s … o’clock. It’s time for …

Pair work. Act Zhang Peng and John. Three minutes, practice the main sentence. Then choose several pairs to act to the class.

Consolidation Let’s play. Show a time schedule. Let the students to comprehend the content. Then see a dialogue. T: What time is it? Point to a time on the schedule. Choose two students to answer. Group work. Make a new time schedule in groups. Then ask and answer. Five minutes. Then choose two groups to act.
