My old coats are so short that I want to buy some new ones. (1).so…that…意为“如此…以至于…”that引导的是结果状语从句，其结构是“so+形容词或副词+that从句”。如：

Tom ran so quickly that we couldnnot catch up with him. It is so hot that we have to wear cool clothes. 注意：So…that…中间的形容词或副词的使用取决于前面的谓语动词。常规动词后用副词作状语，连系动词后用形容词作表语。

（2）one代表上文提到的coats（同类复数事物），以避免重复。如：

There are few apples in the refrigerator.Let us go and buy some fresh ones. b.

The handbag is so expensive that the woman cannot afford it. Afford

v.意为“买得起，负担得起”。可接物作宾语，也可接动词不定式。多用于否定句和疑问句，常与can,could,be able to搭配使用。如：

I cannot afford this car. Can you afford to buy such an expensive watch? c.

Excuse me,could you tell me where to buy a scarf? Where to buy a scarf是“特殊疑问词+动词不定式”结构，在句中作宾语，也可改为宾语从句：Excuse me,could you tell me where I can buy a scarf?改为宾语从句时，常用主语+情态动词。
