Teaching aims: No 1 Knowledge Aims Review the words and sentences by reading the story. No 2 Ability Aims Most of the students can understand the story and act the story. No 3 Emotion Aims To cultivate students’ affection to school.

The Key Points and Difficult Points No 1 Key Points Students can understand the story by pictures and language. No 2 Difficult Points Students can act the story. Teaching Times: 40 minutes. Teaching aids: PPT, music.

Teaching Procedures: Step 1: Greeting and warming up

Ss: students T: Good morning, boys and girls. Before class, I will divide you into two groups: Group A and B. If you do a good job, I will draw stars for your group.

OK, now let’s begin our class. Hello, everyone. T greets to all the students. Then sing a song: Guess. Step 2 : Presentation (1) T: T shows pictures to lead in the words and phrases in the story: welcome, hungry, full, how beautiful. Then review the words which learned in this unit: library, music room, gym, teacher’s office, computer room and so on. T shows the sentences in the story and practice: This is... Where is...? Is this/that the...? (2)

Look at the pictures and asks: How many people? Who are they? (3)

Read pictures and circle: Where do they visit in Hippo’s school? (4)

Watch pictures and answer: Is that the lunch room? (5)

Read pictures and find: Is that the computer room? (6)

Watch pictures and find: What does the Hippo say? Lead in the sentences: It’s time for lunch. (7)

Say a chant: Time for lunch, Time for lunch! It’s time for lunch. It’s time for lunch.

(8) Read the story and think it over: Where is Zoom? Step 3: Consolidation and extension (1) Watch, listen and imitate (2) Play a game (Group A and Group B PK) A.

Missing words Ss look at the ppt, T plays the ppt, Ss say the missing words. B. Ask and answer T ask, Ss answer. Then two students a group and they ask and answer from each other. (3)

Act the dialogue in roles A.

T and students act the dialogue. B.

Students work in pairs to act the dialogue. Step 4 : Summary What have you learned today? Step 5: Homework (1) Listen and read the story. (2) Try to introduce our school in English. Step 6: Blackboard designing Unit 1
