Unit 2 Lesson 3 Tell What It Is by Feeling

1. Teaching contents 1Phrases:taste delicious,sound noisy,smell sweet,look clean,look dirty.look light,look heavy.

2 Sentences:--How does it taste/sound/smell/look?

--It tastes/sounds/smells/looks ……

2. Teaching aims a)To enable the Ss to master the new phrases: taste delicious,sound noisy,smell sweet,look clean,look dirty.look light,look heavy.

b) To enable the Ss to master the sentence patterns: “How does it taste/sound/smell/look?”And they can express their feelings freely.

3.The key points and difficult points (1)The key points a)To let the Ss master the meaning and the pronunciation of the new phrases. - 1 -

b) To teach the Ss know how to use the sentence pattern: “How does it taste/sound/smell/look?”,and they can communicate with their friends or somebody else by using it.

(2)The difficult points There are seven new phrases which including eight new words in this lesson,especially the first 3 phrases.So,the most difficult point is to let the Ss master the first 3 phrases.And another difficult point is the third person singular.The Ss should remember to add s or es to the end of the verb when the subject of the sentence is the third person singular.

4 Teaching procedure: Step1. Greeting To say “Hello”to the Ss,and talk with them about “What’s your favourite food?”

Step.2 Warm-up Brain Storm-Try to memorize the subjectives that I show the Chinese meaning on the screen. Step3. Teaching procedure T: Look!I have a quiz for you.Try to guess what it is. (Read the quiz and emphasize the key words to lead in ‘taste’.)Do you know what it is? Ss:It’s a tomato. - 2 -

T:Good!(Then show the word ‘taste’). *The Ss read the word together for several times. T:I’ll show you some food. (Show some pictures in PPT.And lead in the question “How does it taste?”) S: (Maybe they’ll say ‘yummy’...) T:Yes,yummy.But today we can say ‘delicious’. *Practise the phrase ‘taste delicious’ for several times.

T:Here are some other pictures about delicious food.(Show some pictures in PPT.)How does it taste?(Then show the answer “It taste…”)Look at here,yes or no?(Ask them if it is right.) S:No. T:Good!So it should be? S:It tastes…

T:Yes!It tastes delicious. * Then I’ll share some food with them and then let them practise the sentence patern. Then teach the other words in the same way while let the students work in pairs to practice the sentence.And to correct the pronunciation of the word ‘favourite’

one by one when they practise.

Step 4. Summary

1 Consolidation Let the students return to the English books, read the words and sentence together. 2 Extensions - 3 -

Through the multi-media to enable the students to experience the beauty of our life.

Step 5.Homework 1 Read the words for ten times, and preview the dialogue in Let’s talk. 2 To play the Guessing Game with your friends or family members.Using

“How does it…?”

“It tases/sounds/smells/looks…”
