The analysis of the teaching contents:

The topic of this unit is “At the zoo”, such a topic is related to animals. So it is helpful to raise the students learning interests. This section is the first part of this until. First, student will review talking about animals. Second, students will learn characteristic of animals. The analysis of the students: The students in Grade 2 have learnt some animals in their textbook; they are active and eager to get in touch with new things. They are willing to express and say something around their life.

Teaching aims and demands:

Knowledge aims: 1,Let the students master the four adjectives and one word：tall short fat thin ; giraffe. 2，students can use the sentence pattern:“It’s…”, to have a description of the animals. Ability aims: 1, Students can use the following sentence to describe animals or people. Example:

Look at the giraffe. It’s fat. 2, Learn to cooperate with others and communicate with their partners. Emotion aims: 1，Be confident during studying English. 2，Train students to protect animals. 3，The students will like to have this lesson. They will get fun from it. Teaching key and difficult points: Key Points: words: tall short fat thin ; giraffe. patterns：Look at the giraffe. It’s fat.

Difficult Points: Students can do the corresponding actions according to the tape. Teaching methods：

Teaching Procedures: Step1. Warm-up

(1) Greetings (2)Talk freely. Look at pictures, try to guess it. (3) Have a revision: Let’s do! (Students do the actions.)

(Purposes:利用上学期学习过的动物类单词复习导入,既复习旧知也让学困生在旧知中感受英语，为新内容学习做好铺垫。) Step 2. Presentation 1. Show a magic tree and ask some questions, example: T: Can you guess “Who are they?”

S1: Monkey. T: Very good! S2: Tiger. T: Maybe you are right! S3: …

2. Show some animals and lead in the “Let’s learn”, example:

T : The mother giraffe is “ ? ”.

Ss: The mother giraffe is “tall”.

T : Tall. ( do the action ) Ss: Tall tall tall. (students do the actions.) ……..

3. Listen to the tape. 4. Play a game with these new words, example: T : Tall. ( do the action ) Ss: Short. ( do the action ) T : Fat. ( do the action ) Ss: Thin .( do the action) …

(Purpose:利用图片，手势动作和语音语调等方式呈现单词和教读，让学生更容易理解和接受游戏是学生们喜爱的活动之一，通过游戏活动进一步巩固本节课的重点内容，同时注重小组间的合作与交流，发挥英语的交际功能，培养学生的英语口语交际能力。) Step3. Drill and practice

1. Listen to the tape “Let’s do!” (Students do actions) 2. The whole class say and do! 3. Act out the “Let’s do!”.

(Purpose:多种形式操练单词，更加关注学困生参与课堂情况教师通过信息传递活动，培养学生听说能力，让学生活用语言，体现了教学的开放性和学生学习的主体性。) Step4. Consolidation and extension

(Purpose: 创设游动物园情景，用多种游戏形式活跃课堂气氛，复习和巩固所学的形容词和句型。)
