Seasons and hemispheres

Aims: 1. Words: seasons spring summer autumn winter

Northern hemisphere

Southern hemisphere The Equator, Japan Malaysia

New Zealand

2. Structures: …is in the Northern hemisphere/Southern hemisphere.

---in -----is------, but in-------it’s in ------- 3. Function: To express the name of the country and where the country is and how seasons change there. And develop the ability to talk about more things about the country. 4Moral function: try to know more countries and what they are famous for and what the students are interested in. Getting to know this wonderful world.

Difficulty: 1. The names of different countries in the world.

2. The teacher should collect a lot of information about the countries.

3.To understand why seasons change, because of this , a lot of things are different. Aids: 1.Multi-media(Power point) 2. Ex-paper for students

Step 1: Lead in. (Listening Speaking and Thinking) Enjoy the pictures of the beautiful world. Then teacher shows up to have a free talk about travelling)---

视觉小盛宴,初步感知世界的大不同,震撼之美,四季之美。

“Hi, guys.Well? Enjoy the pictures? How do you feel?SS… The world is so wonderful. let’s go and have a look.(wear the sunglasses on) What do I want to do? Go travelling” (p)See my pictures

1) Talk about the seaons “Look at the pictures,what seaon is it?”—Cool or cold in summer. Warm in winter. One Earth. All different. Aamzing world. See ?

That’s why I love travelling. Do you love travelling? (ask the teachers and students) 2)Talk about:So Travelling is a time to______.(relax,play,eat,learn,enjoy,fly…)—旅行的意义. After the ss answer it , show my ideas on the screen.

So It’s the time to see the differences of this world.

Design purpose: 真听真看真感受,这样的出场意在身临其境,迅速进入角色和内容。从旅游谈起,辐射主题同一个世界,不同的季节。创设情境One world, all different,让学生轻松,投入、享受语言,英语课旨在老师为孩子们创设一个简单放得开的磁场,才能喜迎他们更好的发挥自己的创造力,

进而学习新词,练习语言的表达。聊聊旅行的意义,旅行带给自己的不一样的体验和感受。

Step 2: Reading ,learning and practicing.

Learn the two halves, and practice the words.

Q: Do you know the world have two halves?

Practice the words by doing the actions and quickly response. “which one is missing?

Q: What is the same thing/ big difference

between the N and the S hemisphere?

What about the Equator?

2. Listen, check the answers and get to know more. (After the listening , if they are right. Just go on . if it is not, answer again. ) The three countries mentioned in the text. What are they? Where are they? –Piont the Country and say the sentences. ---in the N/S. Then practice the sentences. December in _____ is_________. July in ____is in_____. July in _____is in______. (add the feelings about cold and hot) What about Malaysia? ____________________________________ 3. let’s read again. And then talk about Why the weather is different ? And show the picture.(Or use the object to show them. Because we have got the globe)----通识教育的难点,通过实物演示简单了解。

4. Get to know more different things about the three countries.

Like we said, all in one Earth, all different. let’s see more differences.

Design purpose:通过free talk旅行的意义--感受不同,顺利进入我们的大主题和文章的内容部分,我们一起来认识世界的不同。对文本的处理,选取了读前预设,质疑,解决部分难点,再进行听读说的技能训练对文本进行处理,加工,并从理解到活动训练,语用再到最后的知识和能力的训练过程。知道这个常识的孩子可以用语言武装自己,不明白这个通识知识的可以借此机会一起学习。

Step 3: Go further study. Learn more things about countries. Picture Showing ,talking,Reading, and using the language to talk about the countries they know.

The text:

Japan: Japan is famous for his Sakura. March is the best season to watch Sakura blossom . People wear Kimono. Japan is also famous for his food and Mount Fuji.

New Zealand: Winter is the best season to go. It is famous for his big and wide grassland, sea,kiwi bird ,kiwi fruit and Maoris,

Maylasia: It is hot all year round. It is famous for the small beautiful islands and his special food. People like to wear colourful summer clothes there. They are very lovely and friendly.

Tell us the contries. in the N/S/E ,show us the differences there.

Design purpose: 高于课文内容的提升和拓展,了解了地理气候之后,由此而来的每个国家各自具备的丰富的有趣的最吸引学生的不同之处。也是难点,加入了适量的丰富点的语言表达。

Do a project.

Talk ,share ,write and make a beautiful introduction. Choose the Items they could use for their show.

One world ,all different. A lot of friends would like to travel. Where? It is hard to choose. but you could help them. You are super. Imaing you are from the country you like, how can you introuce your country to them and what funny way can attract more friends to go to your country?

Design purpose: 学习是为了以后做事情,为了生活,为了应用,为了让我们今后的生活更加的丰富,与生活联系的更加紧密。前面学习的季节天气都是为后面的做事情服务的,我懂季节天气才能做出很好的计划出来。将所学知识放在一个有意义的项目里达到语用,这个环节是照顾全方面学生的,没有这个知识储备的可以根据今天所有内容辅助上自己想要展示的形式里面。有能力的的孩子可以利用这个机会展示自己的知识储备“海阔凭鱼跃,天高任鸟飞”,辅助大家投票的形式让我们的活动更具挑战性。
