T: Good morning, boys and girls! How are you?

T: Let’s sing an English song “Ways to go to school”

T: Great. You’re super. I’m your English teacher. I’m tall and strong. Usually I come to school on foot, sometimes I come to school by bike. What about you?

S1:By bus.

S2: On foot. …

T:Today we’ll learn Ways to go to school. (板书课题)

Step 2.Pre-reading

T:How many ways can you think of to go to school?

S1: By sled.

S2: By bus.

S3: By boat. …

T: Many students come to school on foot. How does Robin go to school? Do you know? Let’s have a look.(播放PPT)

Ss: He doesn’t go to school. He learns at home.

Step 3.While-Reading

T: Look at this picture. What’s he doing?

S: He is reading a book.

T: What does he read? Listen to the tape, answer the question: What is the book about?

T: Good. Open your English book. Turn to Page 18. Read the text quickly and underline the ways to go to school and places.

T:Look at the first picture. What place is it?

S: Munich Germany.

T: (手持Munich Germany 词卡领读并粘贴在黑板上。)How do they go to school?

S: On foot.

T: Read again, find you can’t read and can’t understand. Read it by yourself.

Do they go to school by bike? In the USA, many students go to school by car or school bus. In Finland [’fɪnlənd] (芬兰)and Iceland [’aɪslənd] (冰岛), it snows a lot. The students in villages far from the school have to go by sled. If it snows heavily, the students can study at home. In Venice [’venis ](威尼斯), the students go to school by boat. What fun it is!)

T:This text is about “Different ways to go to school”. We want to read a text. We should find out important words. In this text, the first place is China. Next place is Finland. Next is Iceland, the last one is Venice. Then we can find out their ways to go to school. Who can read? S1: In China, most students go to school by bike or by bus. Some live near their schools. S2: In the USA, many students go to school by car or school bus. S3: In Finland and Iceland, it snows a lot. The students have to go by sled.
