1.To learn singular and plural forms of five new words:

a cherry/cherries, a strawberry/strawberries, a peach/peaches 2.To find out the different rules of plural forms 3.To learn target sentences: Are these ________? Yes, they are./No, they aren’t.

4.To learn that fruits are good for health.

Step 1 Warm- up 1.

Review of the words and target sentences we learnt in the first period

an orange/oranges, a banana/bananas, a pear/pears, a grape/grapes, a watermelon/watermelons

What’s this? It’s a/an _____.

What are these? They’re ______.

【设计意图：复习巩固第一课时所学内容。】

Step 2

Lead-in & Presentation

1.

Introduce the new fruits by show the teacher’s fruit kingdom

2. The teacher shows a picture of a cherry 1)Learn the new word by using the sentence we have learnt:

T: Is it a pear/grape…?

Ss: No, it isn’t.

T: So what’s this?

(introducing the new word: a cherry by asking Ss to guess the pronunciation of “cherry”

and “strawberry” according to Taishanese/Cantonese pronunciation）

2)Teach the rest new words in the similar ways, including “ a strawberry and a peach”

A. 以辅音字母加上y结尾的单词,把y改i再加es.

B. 以s,sh,ch,x结尾的单词要加es. (eg. buses, fishes, peaches, boxes) 4)Explain the (“ s ” or “ es

” ) in different words have three sounds[s], [z], [iz]
