《Our New Rooms》

Lesson 1 I.Teaching objectives: 1). Linguistic objectives:

*after this class students should be able to recognize and understand the new words (TV, computer,bed, clock and photo) and key sentences( There is...../Is there ... In the room? Yes,there is. / No.there isn’t.)

*after this class students should be able to talk about what’s in their rooms.

2). Non-linguistic objective:

*after this class students can talk about what’s in their rooms in our daily life.

II. Teaching Important points: 1、Master the new words(TV,computer,bed, clock, photo) 2、Master new structures(Is there ... In the room?Yes, there is./No,there isn’t.) III.Teaching Difficult Points:

Master the new words’ right pronunciation correctly,such as computer, clock.

IV.Teaching Aids:

cards , tape , video V.Teaching procedure: Step1:warm-up(5min):

Let students listen to a song(In My Home) and ask them to appreciate the song.Then I introduce the topic--- our new rooms. Step 2 Presentation(10min) I’ll ask students what’s in your rooms and guess what’s in my room .Students may answer in Chinese, then I’ll teach them in English.Then I show the new words to them in the Power point and I also will use the card to let students know about the new words more clearly. Step 3 Consolidation(23min) Activity 1: Change the voice When students review the new words, I’ll use different ways.Such as, when I speak the new words quietly, students should speak them loudly. When I speak them loudly,then students should speak them quietly. Activity 2:What’s Missing? I’ll present the five words in the power point and one picture will disappear,then I’ll ask students what’s missing. When they give answer ,I’ll give them one point. Activity 3:Find the differences I’ll present two different pictures,but their differences are difficult for students to find out, so I ask students to look at these two pictures clearly. If they find out the answer, I’ll give them a point. Activity 4:present new structures and ask students to practice

I’ll present a picture which includes all new words.I ask students “can you tell me what’s in the rooms.then I’ll introduce the new structure ‘Is there...in the room? Yes,it is No, it isn’t .I’ll teach students these sentences.then I’ll present a new picture about the rooms. Let students drill the new sentences group by group.After that, I’ll divide students

Into 5 groups, and ask them to practice these new structures. Activity 5:Design your own room Students can draw their own room,such as they can draw a clock and a bed.when they finish,I’ll ask the others to guess one student’s room,they use the new structures (Is there...in the ... Yes,there is /No,there isn’t) Step 4 Homework(2min) 1)Ask students to copy these new words three times. 2)ask students to tell their parents about our rooms’ things in English. Blackboard Design:
