Step 1 Greetings

T: Good morning ! How are you? Step 2 Warming up 1 Review the words about different rooms in the school. (The students can review what they have learned before in Unit 1, which will appear in this story. So the students can get the idea of this part easily.) 2 Ask and answer

The teacher shows some pictures of Quanjiao primary school, and then ask the questions like this: Is this the library? Do you have a music room? ( The students will be more interested in this part because it is their own school, which is connected with their own life. It can

attract the students’ attention.)

Step3 Presentation

Lead-in

T shows Mrs. Hippo and his school. He says “ Welcome to our school. This way, please.” Then T shows the four friends ( Zip, Zoom, the rabbit and the monkey) and tells the students that we visit Mr. Hippo’ school with the friends together. ( T creates a situation of visiting Mr Hippo’s school, which can arouse the students’ interest. It can help them to start to learn

the following part.)

Task 1 Listen and watch

With the help of the picture, the students listen and get a general

idea of the story.

Task 2 Read and answer the question and then show some words that have the same sound

How many rooms are there in Hippo’s school? What are they? like nine five... Task 3 Read after the tape

The students read after one sentence by one sentence.

Task 4 Read and retell the story

T covers the sentences of the story and asks the students to stand up and retell it.

Task 5 Role play

T divides the students into different groups and asks them to act
