Step 1. Getting students ready for learning (3mins) 1) Show some pictures, such as Tian’anmen Square, Big Ben and a map of the world. (The purpose of this activity is to make the class know the world is very big and wonderful, we should go out and learn something.) 2) Chant The world is colorful, I want to go out. The world is beautiful, I want to see it. The world is wonderful, I want to enjoy it. (This activity is to active the students’ interest in this class and make the students relaxed.) Step 2.Lead-in (6mins) 1) Show a photo of myself, talk about my last May Day Holiday. Then ask the students to make a dialogue with their partners according to the following questions:Where did you go?

What did you do? How was the trip? (It helps to collect information for writing.) 2) Enjoy a video, Papa, where are we going?

(The purpose is to arouse the students’ interest and to lead to some pictures.) Step 3. Pre-writing (10mins) 1) Show some pictures about trips of the video and ask the students to make sentences with when/while/after/before. (This activity is to review adverbial clauses of time.) 2) Show the title, An Unforgettable Trip, and learn the new word unforgettable. (This activity is to let the class know the main task of this class and understand the meaning of the title.)

3) Show some pictures and learn the words, Temple Fair and foreigner. (It aims to lead the passage and let the students guess why the trip was unforgettable.) 4) Show a passage of an unforgettable trip, ask the students to read the passage in silence and answer why the trip was unforgettable. (This activity is to let the students know the meaning of the passage.) 5) At first, analyze the outline, it contains three parts, beginning, body and ending. Then, talk about the body in detail. Let the students pay attention to five Ws and one H, use past tense and adverbial clauses of time. (It helps the students know how to write a narration and grasp some simple writing skills.) 6) Retell the passage according to the outline and the key points. (It helps the students know the passage further and how to write a passage according to the outline.) Step4. While-writing (10mins) 1) Write an outline according to the key points.

1) Exchange the passages in groups, correct the mistakes with a red pen and choose the best one in each group. The teacher shows evaluation standards: ① Spelling, capitalization, punctuation.

② Grammar: person, tense and sentence structure. ③ Structure of the passage: beginning, body and ending.

2) The teacher shows two or three passages to the class, let all the students correct them together, and give proper points. 3) The emotional education: Enjoy traveling, love nature! Step6. Summary (2mins) Let the students review what they have learned today. We learn: 1. Review adverbial clauses of time. 2. How to write a narration according to the outline.
